Californian based Stormfront Studios was behind the Neverwinter Nights MMORPG that ran from '91 to '97. They've announced that given the state of the economy and lack of interest in their current projects they'll have to disband.

They've been in business for nearly 20 years, and recently developed games like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Eragon.

"Frankly, we didn't get pitched, and the project made no revenue," said a company rep.

"The economy is such that the projects that we weren't winning, ended."

NASCAR Racing was lead by Stormfront for EA Sports as well as the original Madden NFL for PC too. The movie licensed titles also include the more recent Spiderwick Chronicles.

No shortage of history for the studio and founder Don Daglow, good luck guys.

Stormfront leave a great legacy but unfortunately lacklustre performance in the recent release "Eragon" was all it really took to close them down. "Fury" did it for Auran, and it shows that one bad title can end a small Dev PDQ (ask Iron Lore).
