GAME Group shops holding "major" meeting, staff told to open later

Trouble maybe brewing for more staff at UK GAME and Gamestation stores today as they're told to open later, making time for a meeting.

The GAME Group recently announced the closure of 43 stores, and 247 jobs to be cut. Staff are said to be anxious, calling it a "major" event.

The staff meetings began at 9.00am (GMT) and so have likely concluded by now. "One described it as a “major” event, although it could just be a recap on last week’s closure news," reports VG247. This could be more employee cutbacks at stores.

Optimistically though it could be about the reductions already made and they're just wanting to clear up a few things. We'll know eventually, one way or the other.

Meetings first thing in the morning are never good...particularly when they delay opening (why we had meetings at 4am at EB Games). Could be they won't end up opening at all, but do stocktakes...prior to liquidation.
