Last year Lionhead tested an episodic release of Fable II over the Xbox Live Marketplace. The game was cut into 5 different episodes with the first one being free, and the remaining four priced at $10 each.

Lionhead Boss Peter Molyneux has been talking about the episodes and says that it was "massively successful".

"That was hugely successful. There were something like over half a million. I think it was 600,000 downloads of the first episode, which was very, very cool." said Molyneux.

When asked about the conversion rate from the free episode, Molyneux replied: "It was a much higher than a normal conversion rate. Massively, massively successful, and I really love this relationship, which is much more sliced into episodes with consumers."

He did hint about episodes for Fable III, but said that "We're not announcing whether that's coming out in this release."

Fable III will be out at the end of this year for Xbox 360, and a PC release is currently rumoured.
