Rumour: Microsoft team already "thinking about the second version" of Natal

Motion technology is soon to be all the rage, again, when Project Natal and PlayStation Move finally hit retailers and land in our living rooms.

Microsoft's eggheads are already planning a sequel "down the road." The giant also admits they "should have done more" in motion space.

"When we invent something first like Natal, while we have a researcher working with the product group for the first version we already have a researcher thinking about the second version down the road,” said Microsoft's Research Asia department head Hsiao-Wuen Hon, he was chatting with The Sydney Morning Herald, reports MCV.

"We certainly hope we will continue to be holding that technology.” So do us gamers because we don't want a repeat of Microsoft's last add-on performance - HD DVD.

The boss also noted that Microsoft really should have been a leader in the motion space, and not seen as a follower: “Looking back I can say we probably should have done more in the consumer space.” Project Natal is due this holiday with launch titles.

Are you looking forward to the controller-less motion tech from Microsoft?

Well my xbox just died, but I'll probably get a new one soon, still not sure if I'll bother with natal or not though, I'll at least wait a while anyway, to see how it goes, and what releases for it.

The fcat that you can only hook up two "Moves" to any one PS3 means you can't play 4 player co-op (no great loss, I hear from the mob). Might limit many a gamer's expectations. Besides, it's all been done with the Wii.
