Mad Doc Software have been bought up by the infamous R* to form the studio Rockstar New England, bringing the global family to nine.

They recently built on their relationship with Mad Doc working closely with the GTA-creator to bring the new Xbox360 version of Bully, dubbed the Scholarship Edition.

"The team at Mad Doc Software is extremely talented," said Sam Houser, virtual crime-lord extraordinaire at Rockstar Games.

"Bringing them within the Rockstar Games family will enhance our core technology and further support our commitment to creating progressive and innovative gaming experiences."

Mad Doc not too long ago released Empire Earth III to the RTS community with a less than stellar reception. Bully: Scholarship Edition was also dogged with problems on the earlier models of the Xbox360 console leading to headaches for many gamers, it may not have been MD's fault but it doesn't look good.

There's no telling what project they'll be working on, perhaps they'll help bring more past titles to next-gen or we might see something new and crazy.

With Mad Doc's latest PC release "Star Trek Legacy" being a complete disaster, I hope Rockstar can infuse a bit of cross-platform education into the company. One more strike against an EA/ R* merger.
