UK's PC Gamer mag has the goods on THQ's Warhammer 40K MMO

The game still being years away doesn't seem all that shy and it’s certainly a RPG at heart but with focus strongly toward action-packed fire fights.

Creative director Joe Madureira assures PC Gamer that all important races to the lore "will be represented." The MMORPG is being handled by THQ's Vigil Studios.

Madureira confidently boasts that there'll be "tons of stuff hanging off your character, weapons, scrolls... we are going to have the coolest looking characters of any MMO, ever. Once we begin releasing images, feel free to call me on that."

Cover, suppressive fire and flanking will all play big roles in Warhammer 40K, but they stress this is a MMORPG first. Apparently they expect to have battles larger than EA Mythic's Warhammer Online which can have up to 70 player sieges.

The environments are certainly a mixed palette: "cities, alien temples, Chaos shrines, deserted battlefields (er, woo?), mysterious ruins, ancient structures, and - here's the cool one - 'drifting hulks in space'."

Interesting stuff indeed, let's hope THQ can pull this ambitious boasting off.

This would be good. But years away? The rate at which Devs are closing up shop makes me wonder how many studios this will pass through if ever ot sees the light of day.

I've played since "Space Hulk" by EA, including the SSI turn-based games. Its' a lot of fun, and quite bloody, if you're into Sci-Fi warfare.
