THQ and SyFy in Red Faction TV film deal, could lead to TV series

SyFy channel love Red Faction as they see it as a "great fit" for viewers, who'll be getting a 2-hour movie which also serves as a "backdoor pilot".

That means if the TV flick is loved then a TV series could get kick started. THQ's next Red Faction title, out before April 2011, has SyFy attached.

That's right the next major instalment to the Red Faction series will be production in conjunction with SyFy, as THQ are their latest best buddy it looks like.

"I'm only doing deals where we have a greenlight, meaning we are on the air; we are being made as a film," said Danny Bilson of THQ on his new transmedia strategy for IP, earlier in March at GDC. They won't be repeating mistakes like the Halo movie debacle.

"You're not going to read about, 'Oh, this producer is going to do the Red Faction movie,' and you never hear about it again." Let's hope SyFy don't suddenly get cold feet then. It's more than likely the 2-hour TV flick will be based off the original game.

Would you welcome Red Faction among your TV viewing? Are there any other games you'd love to see get a shot at some TV prime time? Red Faction: Guerrilla was the last entry to the franchise, offering an open-world Mars with mayhem galore.

Hm, of all the games, this is one I actually think could do really well as a movie/show.

After three failed games how on earth do they believe a TV show would be any more popular. Anyone remember "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"? No? I'm not surprised as this would fall into that same bracket.

How do you come to the conclusion that they had 3 failed games. O.o

Surely sales couldn't have been that bad, the original, and the new games are great, and basically everyone I know with an Xbox bought the new one. :o
