Capcom's Jun Takeuchi, producer of Lost Planet 2, has revealed that an unlikely game genre helped inspired the sci-fi shooter developer.

Turn10's Forza Motorsport 3 with its "streamlined interface" had quite the impact on Takeuchi and his team, and greatly influenced design.

"I'd suggest Forza Motorsport 3," Takeuchi-san told Xbox World 360 magazine, asked what else beside Gears of War and Halo had inspired Lost Planet 2, reports CVG.

"I'm aware it's a totally different genre, but I was hugely impressed with the streamlined interface; the concept of Lost Planet 2's integrated single/multiplayer front-end stemmed directly from Forza 3." There you go, don't discount those racers FPS fans...

Lost Planet 2 has quite the celebrity videogame cast with the likes of Resi Evil's Albert Wesker, Dead Rising's Frank West, and duos from Gears of War and Killzone all making an appearance thanks to downloadable content.

Have you got a copy of Lost Planet 2? Do you feel the Forza 3 vibe?

Racers and FPS's have a lot in common in that the timing and reflexes must be spot on, and there are quite a few vehicle sections in FPS's these days. Also the kitting-out of your soldier can be quite simlilar to the custom building of a car. Still I hope Forza 3 is more successful and polished than LP2.

Well as herodotus said, today in (not only) FPS etc. genre games there's lot in common with racing games as for the reflexes and so on. Pimp my "Soldier", anyone? XD
