Rumour: Bethesda gears up Elder Scrolls V for E3 2010 unveiling?

The Internet is aflame with talk that studio Bethesda has an Elder Scrolls V announcement wedged deep up their E3 2010 sleeve of mystery.

It's all Famitsu's fault as next to Bethesda's E3 slot they put the word "secret" in their latest magazine issue. It's been 4 years since Oblivion.

The Official Xbox Magazine reported a while back that the next instalment to The Elder Scrolls was likely due to release in 2011, so a reveal now would be gravy indeed. The issue here is that Bethesda's Pete Hines said at their pre-E3 event in April that no major announcement from them is scheduled for the mega game feast in LA.

Have the top execs changed their mind? E3 2010 starts officially June 15th.

I wasn't a fan of Oblivion, played it twice, for about 2 hours total playtime, then shelved it for a few months before trading it in for something else. However, I do like the concept of the game, so perhaps this potential sequel will be more my style.

The main reasons I didn't continue with Oblivion is that I found it confusing to figure out what exactly I should be doing.. and the damn lock-picking got me to the point where I wanted to throw my console out the window. Aside from that, it actually seemed like a fairly decent game.. at least from the short amount that I saw anyway.

Jake, you should have thrown your console out the window...or sent it to me:)
I played Oblivion for several hours, heavily modded but also found it very confusing. I would complete a task that supposedly led to another then nothing would happen. I was often left in a city or countryside wondering what in hell I did next. More of a chore than a game.
Still Fallout 3, with all of it's faults was better. Bethesda will be pushing "Fallout: New Vegas" heavily at E3, tho I wouldn't rule out a teaser trailer for ES 5.

My first point is that Jake, you shouldn't have played it on console - the mod-scene is actually what makes these games really good. They are extremely open and the what to do or not is simply checked in your diaries and you got quest arrows. You can of course set the pointer to north, and keep walking and exploring.
For me, I want to see a game that is developed more strictly for each console/PC environment and benefits. The PC suffered from the consoles limitation of the controller and didn't really take full advantage of the keyboard/mouse combo. The interface and playstyle did as well. Also, the people that inhabits the Elder Scroll worlds must have hit every branch of the ugly tree!
Elder Scroll games are the games everyone likes to hate, but most people play and enjoy anyway cause they are for the explorer nerd inside.

The nature graphics are excellent Dark, especially with some of the scenery Mods (sounds odd, but the many flower alternatives really made the outdoors come alive). Also the extended draw distance mods, and the LoTR movie sountrack mod is just icing on an already rich visual cake.
