Boss Gabe Newell of Valve has confirmed to a fan site that their "surprise" replacing Portal 2 at E3 2010 next week isn't Half-Life 2's Episode 3.

He also called the image with the Half-Life logo and Gordon Freeman's name with the date "14th June" as a total fake. The 14th is Valve's E3 day.

"It isn't ep 3", Newell told HalfLife2.net in an email, reports Eurogamer. Valve was to unveil Portal 2 at E3 but then suddenly sent out a press release teasing a "surprise" instead. Could the studio have ditched episode 3 in favour of Half-Life 3?
