EA slaps Crytek's Crysis 2 with an autumn date which means it retails during the busy Q3/4 period. There's also a multiplayer beta in the works.

No exact details have escaped Crytek yet on the beta but fans that sign up to the relaunched MyCrysis service will get a heads up from the studio.

Previously EA has just said it would be out sometime by the year's end but now EA Partners have locked it for autumn with a trade press ad with MCV. Crysis 2 is set in New York City as it becomes a major battleground between man and the awakened aliens.

"Looking to get your hands on Crysis 2 early? Now is your chance!" teases Crytek with the relaunch of their community site MyCrysis, reports Big Download.

"Early registrations will be tracked, and our first wave of users will have a chance to win a key as and when the Crysis 2 beta takes place. All you need to do is sign up early and one day in the near future you may be receiving a mail with an invite to the game.”

Crysis 2 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this autumn.
