Bad news for SOCOM fans that were looking forward to getting back into the series this year with SOCOM 4; it's been delayed for "extra" dev time.

This is the studio avoiding "shortcuts" in development they say, as they want the "most immersive" SOCOM yet. It's now just slated for '2011'.

That's right we don't even get a Q2, Q3, a first or a second half of 2011 - just 2011. The delay news broke on the official site. "While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts," said the Zipper Interactive studio.

"Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that,” continued senior community manager Jeremy Dunham. It likely also delayed because of Call of Duty: Black Ops.
