The PlayStation 3's response to the Xbox360's online community is going to be delayed again; the beta is scheduled for this fall.
Sony's Home is a free interactive and social software platform which is designed to help gamers chat, play games together and access extra content.
Home had already been put back to spring this year; it was expect to arrive last fall. They've extended the closed beta which they say is continuing to help them shape and hammer out the features of Home.
"We have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today," explained SCE president and CEO Kazuo Hirai.
"Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition."
It's certainly an interesting way to approach the online aspect of the console and if successful could really help Sony challenge Microsoft's lead for online play and distribution services. Will it measure up to the expectations of PlayStation gamers?
