Already the Star Wars MMO from BioWare has playable non-human races, but now we get even more like the Sith Pureblood - a videogame first.

They're the descendants of Naga Sadow and Marka Ragnos don't cha know. Then there's the blind, force-seeing Miraluka. There's two more.

"Among the most exciting character types you’ll be able to choose from is the Sith Pureblood. For the first time ever in a video game, Players can choose to be a member of the original Sith Race, the red-skinned descendants of such notorious Sith Lords as Naga Sadow and Marka Ragnos," reads the official BioWare site for The Old Republic.

"A near-human species with unrivaled strength in the Force, Miraluka can become powerful Jedi Knights. Hailing from a homeworld with no visible light waves, the Miraluka evolved to see their surroundings entirely through the Force."

There's also the "green-skinned Mirialans" who make good Jedi Consulars tease BioWare. "Mirialans are known for their symbolic facial tattoos and natural agility. They are also respected for their patience and insight."

Last but not least are the Zabraks (Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace). "A proud species from an inhospitable world, Zabraks are among the few with the determination and ferocity to become Sith Inquisitors." More will be unveiled in time.

BioWare tell us the "list is not yet complete" for all the playable non-human species we can choose from. "We look forward to announcing further options in the coming months." Star Wars: The Old Republic releases exclusively for PC with no console plans.

3 new playable races aren't much of an upgrade. But well, since I'm getting the game I'm probably gonna like it! Big SW fan here ;)

so darth maul was an original Sith Lord ? Like the Red skinned people they talk about in this News ?

Nevermind ... just read the Last race .

Abit more variation is nice but it's nothing big imo. :)

New races in WoW meant a lot. They should have kept this for an expansion or something like that... not fire all the aces at once... ccc

Its not like they cant add new ones later on. After all the story allows for thousands of different planets each with a unique race.
However i dont see peoples fascination with a race, its just a different skin most of the time (except its bundeled with classes).

They do have some bonuses, otherwise whats the point? Even tough there will be a few races with the Jedi class, they will all have different characteristics - force, strength, speed, I don't know. It does matter :)

Yeah I agree that having diverse races (in appearence and combat) is good, but I feel that in wow for example there are too many classes.

The Star Wars universe has a lot of potential for alien races, so i assume that every race will have something different in stats, characteristics.

They have plenty of different options of races, they are just showing a few at a time to keep the TOR fanbase drooling up until release. (along with plenty of other updates, such as timeline videos, biographies etc).

These new races they've revealed are quite cool, though personally I prefer to play as a Human in most games, but maybe that'll change if they have different perks. :)

I played in most games as Human, except WoW - I never wanted to play as a human there, with all the other races around :) And when I see a Human Paladin out there, I can already guess his age without looking at his nickname... :)
Honestly I expect this game to be a hit, and not just some game that will get compared to WoW. Shame about the cartooney graphics tough, this is SW after all - nevermind, still I wanna get it :)

Yea, it has high potential. After all a whole universe offers great potential, coupled with the force and a nice background story...
however i only half agree with you about the graphic, they could be a bit less glossy but overall i like them. Not too dark and not too childish either.

Will see when it comes out. As soon as this becomes available for preorder in my country I will get it...

I'm afraid the Classes don't interest as much as the gameplay and look (which has so far been bashed from North to South). I'll wait closer to time of release to see if they've picked up their game. Not looking good for this SW fan so far.

Too bad. Well I kinda am looking forward to this title. The hype was pretty strong with this one, the force maybe not :)
