Achievements are Paradox Connect's first feature, a "central hub"

Paradox Interactive's first feature to their new Paradox Connect will be achievements to reward "great feats" in their games, with beta this winter.

Connect is designed to integrate with the "central hub" for all Paradox's online activities, their community forums. It'll support Facebook and Twitter.

"We're really excited about adding achievements to our games,” says Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “Our gamers are amongst the most dedicated out there and achievements are a great way to reward that dedication."

"Besides, our games are really well suited for achievements and the completionist gamers. I bet we'll have an achievement for conquering the world as Tibet in Hearts of Iron 3, and those who manage to get it will want to showcase it. With Paradox Connect they'll be able to show their friends who really is the greatest strategist.”

All forum users will automatically be signed up to Paradox Connect as it will be seamlessly integrated into the forum eventually. "Paradox Connect is scheduled to start its beta cycle in Q4 2010," blurbs the Paradox press release.

Achievements are a big thing now ever since Xbox Live decided to have us compete against one another. Sony followed suit with PS3's trophies and even Valve added them to Steam. Now Paradox wants a slice of the completionist pie.

There's more info on Paradox Achievements over at their official forum.

Meh...kind of contradicts the sandbox style of Paradox games. After all everyone will go for the achievements. Not to forget their games are highly moddable, thus giving a different difficulty to most of the players.

Now everyone is trying to make their own Battle.net, Ubisoft live, Windows live and stuff. People, it isn't working! Get a hold of yourselves and stop doing this to us. We don't need you poor online services, LOL

BoneArc - Games for Window LIVE is not an email service lol. If you have bought any retail games in the past few years you would know what I'm talking about. And yeah, Steam is the best.

So you only played one game this year? Dude, I played like 50. Just started playing Kane and Lynch 2. Man what an upgrade to the first game. It has nothing in common with the first game except those two wackos! xD

1st of all , i have played Some games , Puzzle quest 2 , and some other games .... but i have no money to buy A game ...so i will pretty much resort to everything .
even go to a friends house and play Blur .
back to my point : Windows live is an Email Service , while Games for windows live uses your email as a Username .
