Far Cry 3 gets listed by retailers

Ubisoft scriptwriter Kevin Shortt has already said that Far Cry 3 was in development but nothing more has ever been spilled about the game.

Now 2 Swedish retailers have listed Far Cry 3 with GAME.se putting it with a 2010 release date. A Collector's Edition also appeared on Webhallen.

Yes Far Cry 3 is 2010 bound according to GAME.se who also say it's coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC which would be no surprise given Far Cry 2 did just that. It will apparently take place in Africa again but in "an even larger world" says the description.

A Collector's Edition running for 999 KR listed on Webhallen has been removed it seems, with any and all trace of Far Cry 3 wiped clean. Far Cry 3 is doubtlessly in the works at Ubisoft but a 2010 date seems extremely optimistic given the packed line-up.

Did you enjoy Ubi's Far Cry 2? Let's hope a 3rd instalment will correct mistakes.

Nice - hopefully the new game wont be as monotone as the 2nd one and as bad as the 1st one :)

I find it odd that it could possibly be releasing this year (we are already in september..), given that nothing has really been seen or heard about for this game yet. It's not out of the question I guess, but it does seem a bit out of the ordinary.

Regarding Far Cry 2, it always seemed like it was a relatively decent game, however I bought it for the Xbox and quickly got frustrated after travelling for literally 20 minutes to get to a destination, before getting shot dead a few metres from the quest location, and thus having to travel the distance again. Suffice to say, it didn't take long before I gave up and sold the game, having played only about 2% of the campaign.

I had been tossing around the idea of getting it for the PC via Steam lately though, but with news of Far Cry 3 possibly not far away, I think I'll wait a bit longer, and possibly just keep straight to that instead.

My problem with the game was that there were so many bugs: you had the awful DX10 bugs that really didn't got solved in a hurry. The constant respawning of enemies made it so damn booring going from a-b-c to do missions that meant something. The weapon degrade system was just too much over the top, not adding anything extra.
It was too much of a GTA-style game with too many flaws to be really fun opn the PC which is a shame, it could have been really nice and many ideas were great, but poor support and lack of interest in the PC edition along with many game design decisions killed it off IMO.
