Greg Goodrich is executive producer for EA's rebooting Medal of Honor and they need it to obtain at least 3m in sales otherwise they'll be no more.
Originally the game was subtitled Anaconda, and explored a failed operation but that was "too close to home," and would have given a "sour taste".
“I’m not going to be able to do another one,” said EA's Goodrich if the modern day set Medal of Honor doesn't push 3m sold copies. The game has whipped up controversy among certain media circles for allowing players to be Taliban, though only online.
One military consultant said their original Anaconda pitch "hit a little too close to home" and it would have "put a sour taste in our brothers' mouths." It was essentially a "Black Hawk Down for Afghanistan" affair.
The studio wants "the player to feel, not like they're in a movie, but like they're in Afghanistan." Medal of Honor releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October 15th. Developer DICE of the Battlefield series is handling its online component.
