EA's Medal of Honor reboot shock and awes UK all formats chart

The return of Medal of Honor has secured a foothold atop the UK all formats charts, unseating FIFA 11. It's the 4th best 2010 360 launch.

52 percent of MOH sales went to Xbox 360, with just 5 percent on PC. It also managed to become the 5th biggest PS3 launch for 2010 as well.

Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 managed to land 3rd its opening week as it released exclusively on the Nintendo Wii. Another newcomer was Narruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3 opening at 9th place. Halo: Reach clings to 8th position.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has almost lost its grip on the top ten. See below for the UK all formats chart for the week ending October 16th.

I figured this game was going to be popular with all the publicity, but straight to the number one spot. Dang, thats impressive.

I know. On your thought, I thought that with all of the trouble recently that it would have hurt sales, but apparently it did not.

a little controversy in the press over the taliban thing didn't hurt exposure.

Yeah. But 5% to PC. Jeez that's a huge difference. That's two steps backwards for the PC industry.

Kres speaks the truth, PCs are really loosing there mass popularity over that past decade. I used to game out all the time on them, but to keep up with the ease of gaming power that the consols boast is almost impossible these days. It's too bad that another moh game couldn't boost the popularity.

And for a shooter? I couldn't force myself into playing a shooter on the console. Mouse + keyboard only for me. But there are obviously other people who don't think the same.

I'm still awaiting the arrival of my copy, but I'm not too optimistic. By naming it just "Medal of Honor" I was expecting something fantastic like a re-imvention od the franchise. From what I've seen so far from players is that it falls neatly between "MW2" and "BF: BC2". A filler until "Black Ops" is released. I swore I was done with the "MoH" franchise after "Airborne" but now I am well and truly done with it.
As for playing FPS's on PC...it's still the best way and the way most reviewers play it first. Then it's reviewed officially on the console for the majority public. Consoles are the realm of Gen Y and all that follow. PC is for the ELITE gamer of old.

I'm a hardcore PC gamer! I have a PS3, but only for the games i can't get on PC. The platform is seriously being underused and underestimated ATM. A PC is not only more powerful but also more flexible. Really the only thing in which I see a use for consoles is the casual gaming, a quick half hour of modern warfare and such.

We need some breakthrough on the PC. A miracle.

"Shogun 2 Total War" may see a temporary resurgence but unless RTS and FPS titles stop being released as multiplatform or straight-out console ports, then PC titles are going to suffer ("R.U.S.E." is just peeving me off with it's consolitis).

Moh haven't exactly received that good critics, and the game looks pretty mediocre right now. Also, it hasn't even put a dent into the MW2 sales-figures either so I'm not sure it is a specific PC loss ;) rather a EA loss.
For me, I wait for CoD, and also, this is still not On-line sales right?
Well who cares. I found that when I played MW2, it just didn't feel like a shooter should do. Where is the feel and exactness of games like Quake or UT? The simple yet addictive play of CS?
Best shooter in my opinion for a long time is Borderlands - and that should tell everything about the state of FPS out there... Killing Floor is fun for awhile as well. Espacially the people playing are friendly. But the console/pc hybrids... just feels.. wrong.. Why should PC players spend a fortune on these games?

PC gaming seems to be on the wane. I don't get it how anyone can want to play FPS on a console (I've tried it and I hated it). Moreover it seems like companies are out to kill PC gaming once and for all (e.g. Microsoft Windows 7). And I hate all the console stuff that gets ported to PC gaming. It used to be the other way around!!

If everyone was buying PC games instead of torrenting them it would be a whole different story.
