City Interactive, developer of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, has licensed CryENGINE 3 for two new game projects due out over the "next couple of years".

The Polish studio understands "what gamers want to play" says Crytek's Carl Jones. No details on the unannounced titles have been teased.

"City has shown with the success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior that they understand what gamers want to play," said CryENGINE director of global business, Carl Jones.

"CryENGINE3 and our dedicated, global support team will help them achieve their vision on more platforms, with the speed and high quality values that our engine and tools uniquely provide to developers."

Sniper: Ghost Warrior released on Xbox 360 and PC and was received poorly, although it shot revenue up for the studio 230 percent for the first 9 months of this year.

I'll be interested to see how CryENGINE 3 is released for the PC and if it being used for cross-platform work will see it better optimised to work on a range of PC's, not just the top 5%.

It should because Crytek have said that Crysis 2 will have better performance on lower systems than Crysis 1 did.
