PC Gamers suffer with Call of Duty: Black Ops
Posted: 10.11.2010 07:01 by Jamie Davey Comments: 11
If you've picked up the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops you might be experiencing issues with performance, as many people are rushing onto the Internet to report on lag and stuttering during cutscenes, even on high-end systems.

It seems to be caused by a memory leak, with CPU usage nearing 100% even at relatively quiet areas of the game. Multiplayer modes aren't free from these issues either.

Treyarch are looking into the issues, so we expect a patch to be issued shortly. You can watch a clip below to see an example of the lag and stuttering that has been causing frustration for many gamers.

Why didn't they notice this thing before they released it.

Because they didn't want to spend time and money on fixing their already bad game, they just wanted to release the same old shit again and milk more money from cod fans.

I like the cod series, but i only play with single player.. The story is better than any movie atm.

Yes, a prime cause of frustration and complaints on the CoD Forums. It'll be solved with a patch, but that really isn't the issue. Those with systems at the very top of the range can't play the game without severe lag and disruption. Treyarch had better fix this fast, or their name will be mud yet again ("CoD 3" anyone?).

@Arrecoolast
Shouldn't bash a game you haven't played, mate. I'm no CoD-fanboy as I play plenty of other shooters, but "CoD: Black Ops" is a very polished product stuffed full of goodies...once the leak issue is sorted.

Treyarch has never done a god job with there games, especially CoD. However, this CoD game seems to have the best story of all of the CoD games I have ever seen. So yeah, don't fuss about a game you haven't played. At least get a game patched before you make a verdict.

MW 2 was running great on my computer but Black Ops has really awful performance.

2 patches yesterday (SP and MP seperately) and still many gamers have the stutters. Back to work Treyarch.

.......this sickens me.
No. Way. In. Hell. this made it past testing. Either they didn't test the PC version AT ALL, or they said "fuck it" and released anyway.
Both are disgustingly bad business behavior.

Strange that a lot of the 'official' reviews for the game, performed on the PC version don't mention any of these problems. Makes one wonder at the veracity of the review sites.

I agree with you Roderick. It's as if they don't care at all about PC gamers.

Never had any issues. Steam version here.

Anyway, the reason why some of you might be having issues is Consolitis. It is a disease that affects games ported to PC from next gen consoles. And what happens is: the game relies more on CPU power than GPU power. So basically guys that have 2GHz Dual Cores, or Pentiums are pretty much screwed.

Patches are not gonna fix this issue, maybe a little. Remember the PC version of GTA4 anyone? same thing...
