All publishing duties for Star Wars The Old Republic "shift to EA"

LucasArts will no longer be handling any of the publishing of BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic as EA takes over in an "updated" agreement.

This is to centralise "for efficiency" all marketing, publishing and distribution for the incredibly ambitious MMORPG. LucasArts remain involved.

"With this new agreement, certain publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities previously designated to LucasArts will shift to EA, so that all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency," read a statement.

"Lucasfilm will continue serving as a key partner, collaborating on design and marketing, and as a licensor of the property." Financial terms of this new arrangement "were not disclosed" and are likely to remain concealed behind tightly closed doors.

The Old Republic is "one of the most highly-anticipated videogames of 2011, winning over 60 awards at industry tradeshows around the world including the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles and Gamescom in Cologne, Germany."

BioWare has finally been putting out juicy new game information for Star Wars: The Old Republic, and certainly having every NPC 'voiced' and getting our own starship to call home can't go amiss when it launches early next year.

Once the premier publishing giant, EA has staked a lot on this title. Just hope they don't drop the ball.
