GamesIndustry.biz reports that the PlayStation 3 version of Tomb Raider: Underworld is the strongest selling version, with 51 per cent of all sales having been made on the PlayStation 3.
The Xbox 360 was able to take 34 per cent of the sales, whilst the other percentage was made up from the PC, Wii and DS.

Microsoft announced today that Starting Dec. 12, 2008, fans will be summoned back into Albion’s service with the release of the Knothole Island downloadable content pack. The remote island of Knothole is dying: its golden sands and lush vegetation are covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine.
Following its release on Xbox 360 on Oct. 21, more than 1.5 million units of “Fable II” flew off store shelves worldwide in the first two weeks, making it the most popular game, across all platforms, in the U.S. in October. With the release of the first “Fable II” downloadable content, available exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points, gamers will be invited to set sail for Knothole Island, where new quests, wondrous items and bizarre characters await.

Sigma Team has announced that its currently developing Zombie Shooter 2, an action arcade game for the PC that is scheduled to be released in early 2009. Zombie Shooter 2 is said to include improved graphics, well-built plot line with many NPCs, more than 5 types of vehicles, lots of different types of Zombies and more.

VP of interactive entertainment business for EMEA Chris Lewis has told MCV that the Xbox 360 install base has surpassed the original Xbox in three years, as it has now reached an install base of over 25 million.
"We've already surpassed the installed base of the original Xbox - which is a really significant milestone. We've been blown away by the appetite of people to consumer digital entertainment experiences," said Lewis.

Recently it was found out that Gearbox laid off a number of staff after Brother's In Arms: Hell's Highway not being picked up as much as they'd like.

A source has dished on the Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing held in London to D+Pad, they report a price cut looms and spill sequel news too.
Uncharted 2 was shown a bit but with no title, the highlight though seems to have been God of War 3 which was "masterfully shown at the end", but couldn't tell if it was CGI or not.

According to a TenTonHammer report, Funcom are giving the boot mostly to the staffers in customer service and quality assurance in their US employee roster.
This throws great uncertainty over the Age of Conan MMO which was greatly anticipated but might not be retaining interest after all. No word from Funcom just yet.

The MMO from NCsoft which launched over a year ago just couldn't manage to pull in the subscribers and with the departure of creator Richard Garriott, the end is nigh.
The game's servers will close in February and NCsoft will compensate players with three free months worth of play, and beta access to other upcoming MMOs.

ELSPA has revealed details on the findings between the videogames industry and UK government from the consultancy over the Byron Review.
They say the BBFC re-graded "almost 50 per cent" of PEGI's 18 rated certifications. BBFC director David Cooke says they take cultural factors into consideration, which PEGI can't.

Ubisoft announced this morning that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Far Cry 2 will have new downloadable content released later this month, which is entitled the ‘The Fortunes Pack’ and contains new weapons, vehicles, and multiplayer maps.
The three new weapons contained in the new DLC includes a sawed-off Shotgun, Crossbow and a silenced Shotgun. The two new vehicles are the Quad and Unimog.

Mark Cook, Midway's Mortal Kombat brand manager, has said that the genre is going through "resurgence" and fighting back against the rise of adventure and FPS.
