Moore: EA digital experiences on "cutting edge", need Online Pass

EA Sports supremo Peter Moore has defended the Online Pass system, which sees 2nd-hand copies of EA titles charge for access to multiplayer.

There is a "cost to serve" in bringing all those "compelling, fresh" digital experiences everyday all-year round and EA "deserve to get paid" for it.

Senior development manager Simon Benson of Sony pledges that more of the PS3 catalogue will be getting 3D retrofits; it will take time.

Naturally it's "actually harder" to upgrade to 3D than it is to build from scratch, as game assets were designed to work with "only one HD output."

The upcoming Thief 4 from Eidos, who is keeping details seriously under wraps, may have just been confirmed for the PlayStation 3 at least.

The official PlayStation twitter mouthpiece declared: "Oh man", followed by Thief 4's website domain. That's it - except we know its multiplatform?

The Internet is aflame with talk that studio Bethesda has an Elder Scrolls V announcement wedged deep up their E3 2010 sleeve of mystery.

It's all Famitsu's fault as next to Bethesda's E3 slot they put the word "secret" in their latest magazine issue. It's been 4 years since Oblivion.

A source claims that Sega is real busy making a motion control Sonic racer by the name 'Sonic Free Riders' for Xbox Live Arcade and Natal.

Apparently you would use body motion, the very principle of Natal, to steer an on-screen avatar around tracks and to use power-ups on rivals.

Already fans of Alan Wake can expect The Signal to arrive next month, with The Writer DLC sometime after that. Now a third is coming "later this year."

The Signal will echo the dream sequence says Matias Myllyrinne, where the environment looks real but "there's something off". It's out July 28th.

Following all the rumour and the leaked fact sheet, publisher Sega concedes defeat and confirms Creative Assembly's Shogun 2: Total War.

It will hit PC exclusively next year with a smaller but 'more personal' scope. It's all about feudal Japan and rival warlords. It's in pre-alpha stage.

Bungie reveals Microsoft thought just 'Halo' was "not a good name"

Team Bungie has said how Microsoft didn't much like just the name 'Halo' for the studio's premiere Xbox shooter, it wasn't "descriptive" enough.

They compromised so they could "add a subtitle" but 'Halo' was to remain, and thus 'Halo: Combat Evolved' was born. All at team Bungie "hated it."

The studio is already "well underway" with DiRT 3 and there are "some new surprises" in store. EGO's tech means one franchise "will benefit others".

It's official pronounces Elite creator David Braben, that the Infinity Ward we grew to love for Call of Duty "is dead." it's set to be "different" from now on.

Braben blasts Acti for appearing "not to value" their own teams, or understanding 'what they care about'. Studios "a lot more" than just tools and tech.

After Namco Bandai's support of active Internet DRM measures for PC titles, The Witcher 2 developer CD Projekt says there's "nothing to worry about".

The studio hates strict DRM and called the Namco man's comments "a private opinion." No decision "is decided yet" on The Witcher 2's copy protection.
