Stardock's Wardell wants developer "principles" to save PC gaming

Recently Brad Wardell unveiled the Gamers' Bill of Rights which he believes would strengthen the PC games market, and he wants publishers to sign up to it.

He'd like to banish the 'it's just gonna work' attitude that regular gamers have toward consoles, as PC titles come bloated with DRM and other haphazards.

While both publisher EA and developer Crytek are adamant that they're "not getting into the hardware business," they wanted this PC build for "convenience".

The upcoming Crysis Warhead expansion used the PC as the benchmark for Crytek; they wanted it to run on High settings with an average 30 frames per second.

Neill Harrison, lead technical artist at Rare, has said the team have some "crazy ideas" on where to go with the new building mechanic they hope fans come to love.

If it succeeds then they'll definitely "expand it out" in the next Banjo Kazooie. He revealed that they started out with the same old formula for the duo but it was "a little bit stale."

There'll be a new puzzle pack bundle for Buku Sudoku and 150 new levels for N+ too, both will be going for 200 MS points.

Poor Europe. Fans excited to get a taste for Warhammer Online in the open beta program will just have to wait a bit longer as servers get inundated.

Closed beta gamers are fine as their accounts are simply carried over but new recruits aren't having quite the same joy as the "key validation system has been taken offline".

Several posters on NeoGaf are reporting that Dues Ex 3 is going to appear in the next issue of PC Zone, a UK gaming magazine.

The servers at EA just couldn't handle all that Spore it seems as scores of gamers can't connect to official servers. Still there's plenty of Maxis stuff to shake a spear at.

Apparently the culprit was messing with the "accounts server and the registration process" which neutered Spore Online. Things seem to be working now though?

That publisher, you know - the one holding Rockstar's coin purse? Well they've announced that next fiscal year will be chuck full of T2 goodness.

November 1st hails in fiscal 2009 so keep your eyes peeled any time after that. Oh and they'll be publishing the heck out of more "Nick Junior products" too. w00t!

Eastasiasoft today announced release details for Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer, which is to be released on the PlayStation 3 in October 2008.

The PS3 version contains lots of additional new features not found in the original 2007 PC version release, including audio and visual improvements, updated game play, trophies support and much more.

Rock Paper Shotgun reports that a PC version of Star Wars: Force Unleashed could be in development, as hinted from the NVISION 08 conference, where COO of Pixelux (the company behind the physics for SW: Force Unleashed), Vik Sohal, said in his talk that a PC version is in development.

That's according to Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning who also criticised the consoles for wrenching up the development costs of games; they’re "a step backwards."

Speaking with GameDaily, he believes that "connected gaming" is going to become a greater focus for gamers. Personalization is where it’s at apparently.

In what seems to have been a premature release of a 10-minute long movie, THQ Australia's Warhammer 40K Space Marine shows off its third-person action.

It comes with developer commentary and shows the player in his Spare Marine ensemble brutalising foes. Most of the action is emphasis with swordplay and finishers.

Take-Two reveal delay for Rockstar's Midnight Club: Los Angeles

The game is now expected to arrive October 21st. They announced the delay at a conference call with Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein citing marketing reasons.

Rockstar San Diego is handling Midnight Club: Los Angeles with the game blazing onto Xbox 360 and PS3, and a smaller fanfare on PSP with LA Remix.
