Crysis Warhead launches in UK on 12th Sept, America on 16th September

EA announced today that Crysis Warhead will be released in Europe on 12th September, with North America getting it slightly later on 16th September.

"We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and president of Crytek. "Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.

Team Fortress 2 Update Due Next Week

Valve has announced the 'Heavy Update' for the PC version of Team Fortress 2 will be released next week. The update, which goes live next Tuesday, will add three new unlockable weapons as well as new maps and game modes. Valve has hinted that the changes will make the Heavy class more playable as a solo class and will not be so dependant on medics.

Details of the update are being slowly revealed on the Team Fortress 2 website, and a new community map, cp_steel, has been unveiled.

Vigilante 8 nearing release

Developer Isopod Labs has submitted retro-throwback XBLA title Vigilante 8 to the Microsoft certification process, so with any luck we might see a release within the calendar year.

AMD showcase 'Cinema 2.0' technology, photo-realistic rendering

While the actual application of the new technology isn't quite ready for mainstream yet, the possibilities can't be dismissed. AMD had game devs pricking their ears.

'Cinema 2.0' can produce photo-realistic characters after capturing them in a globed room that's packed with high-def cameras. It can then render them real-time with effects.

LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy to become Sony's new face for PS3?

Sony is casting in the chips as it wants Sackboy as the next "emblematic character for the PS3," reveals SCEA's Mark Valledor in an interview with Adage.

LBP is such a big deal that Sony even plans to stick around a 1,000 "LittleBig billboards" in and around San Francisco, and they don't mind them getting pinched either.

Paradox Interactive today announced a new release for early next year. The Fantasy Strategy game Elven Legacy is being developed by 1C company, and is scheduled to be released in Q1 2009.

Elven Legacy delivers a world filled with magic, and a thrilling nonlinear storyline, gauged to provide many hours of gameplay for strategy enthusiasts. Eidos and Warner Bros. officially announce Batman: Arkham Asylum

Having been teased with Game Informer's next mag cover, Eidos decided to lift the lid on the upcoming "graphically distinct and story-driven" Batman game.

The videogame is being developed by Rocksteady Studios with an original story scripted by Batman writer Paul Dini. Players get the chance to "battle Gotham's worst villains".

Partly to blame for "leaving this industry" was the negative press his game received which he said gave him "too much stress", making him "ill and become an alcoholic".

Rik Alexander, bossman of Monumental Games has said that he'd need "a billion quid" to take on Blizzard's King of MMORPGs - World of Warcraft.

That's why the studio is producing a Football MMO and not some fantasy flavoured game. "Sports just makes the most sense," he proclaimed at the EIF event.

Strategy Informer has been talking with Chris Stockman, studio director of Blazing Lizard, about the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, which will be released on September 3rd for 800 MS points.

We asked Stockman about the possibility of Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball appearing on the PlayStation Network, or any other format in the future. He confirmed that the company is now an official PlayStation 3 and Wii developer, although they aren't ready to confirm anything yet.

The XBLA title Braid, which has been flooded with glorious praise, is coming to the PC but no other platforms yet. Jonathon Blow wants to "focus" for "high quality" versions.

A PS3 version could be in the cards for the future but nothing's concrete. Blow also revealed a Wii expedition is "not going to happen for this game", the models wrong.

Sony has announced its line-up for the Leipzig Games Convention that will be taking place later this month. There will be big PlayStation 3 games on show at the event, with titles such as LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain and Resistance 2 taking the spotlight.

Screenshots and small details have started coming out for Heavy Rain, but we can expect more definite details at Leipzig, when demos will showcase the gameplay and storyline aspects of the game.

PCs are gamed on more than any console the research group claims, but did stress that some groups are "more likely to use consoles than a PC to play video games."

Their data also shows that PlayStation 3 owners are more likely to own other next-gen consoles than their counterparts, and only 10% of PS2 owners have a PS3.

Another video of the upcoming dashboard update for Xbox 360 has hit the net and this time it showcases one of the more sought after features - installing games.

The clip shows how easy it is to get a game installed on the console and that it definitely requires the games disc still over piracy concerns. We're not commies after all.

John Carmack, president of id Software has said it's hard to try and pinpoint exactly what's caused the PC to fall from grace. "You can say piracy. You can say user migration."

While speaking with Tom's Games he says that id still thinks PC gaming is "worth supporting" but decisions aren't finalised with the platform in mind.

Deep Silver today announced a game based on the popular children's TV series "The Magic Roundabout" for Nintendo DS, Wii and PC.

All the well-known characters of the series will appear in a typical, humorous story created especially for the game: the magician Zebedee, the shaggy dog Dougal, Florence the adorable girl, Ermintrude, the pink cow with red spots, and many more. On Friendship Day, Zebedee promises Dougal a valuable gift if he is able to help everyone in the village.

Chris Deering, chairman of the Edinburgh Interactive Festival has voiced a warning to the videogames industry that we must look to other sources of revenue.

He points to rising development costs and predicted falls in the software market. Micro transactions and advertising - "these business models must be explored."
