TriForce Acquires License to Produce Gears of War Weapons and Armor

TriForce announced today that it has signed a deal with Epic Games that will see it producing 1:1 scale replicas of the weapons and armor from the Gears of War universe. No images have been revealed yet, but the full press release can be seen inside.

GRID launch event turns heads, blocks traffic

In order to celebrate today's release of Race Driver: GRID on the 360, PS3 and PC, Codemasters orchestrated a surprise visit to the Oxford Street branch of Zavvi, in London. At roughly 10am this morning, a group of anonymous, helmetted drivers pulled up outside the store, each in their own flashy BMW, and proceeded to walk into the store and purchase a copy of the game each, along with consoles to play it on.

It's been a little too quiet for the liking of PS3 gamers who just so happen to be fans of the upcoming horror survival. Eden Games have finally thrown a lifeline.

The game "is not performing as well on PS3" but it's still "not that far off" said Eden's senior producer Nour Polloni at the London press event.

Valve: Digital distribution services don't "cannibalise" retail sales

Valve's Jason Holtman, the VP of business development, has said during a press huddle at their Seattle offices today that retail sales have in fact benefited.

He stated that "having a connected platform on the PC is helping sales both online and in retail", which he asserted from their recent 'free weekend'.

Ascaron Entertainment has released the first playable demo for the English version of Dracula: Origin, a recently released point and click adventure for the PC. Discover an enthralling and gruesome tale, as you embark on a mysterious journey of intriguing adventure. Some juicy morsels have made their way through to us folk, the home versions of the upcoming brawler will feature exclusive characters the arcades won't get.

Online play is getting welcomed with open arms and clenched fists too, game's producer Yoshinori Ono says they'll be "watching the overall balance."

Looks like Hollywood is ready to pinch another videogame for their film library, but BIA's military expert Colonel John Antal says "it's all talk" for now.

The latest Brothers in Arms game is Hell's Highway where Matt Baker and 101st Airborne will be making a bloody mess in the Netherlands this August.

Sony's in-game XMB package for PS3 won't support all game titles

The XMB is rumoured to be included in the upcoming Firmware 2.40 patch, expected to release sometime this summer for the PlayStation 3 console.

However not all titles will support the custom user-music nor the trophies system, which is being left optional in any case for developers to decide upon themselves.

Splinter Cell: Conviction "has evolved" say dev team, it's on track

While not being ready for the Ubidays event the team is adamant to dispel rumours of having to go back to the drawing board and posted a response to the community.

They say the gameplay for the upcoming instalment "has evolved ...and you won't be disappointed." Fresh SC:C goodies should be arriving within months.

EA has allowed Gamespy and IGN to host a 15 minute Walkthrough trailer for Red Alert 3. It contains examples of how players will be able to build bases both on land and sea, the types of units that you'll be able to combine to create different methods of assaults, and it also plays through a mission which was developed as a tech demo.

European videogames market size has overtaken the United States

While the European Union enjoys a higher collective population than the United States of America, it has only now managed to rake in more cash thanks to exchange rates.

In 2007 the US pulled $10.7 billion in gaming, where the EU managed $11.4 billion and Asia kept first place with $11.5 billion.

The shooter-RPG Deus Ex, believed to be one of the most influential games of all time, is being made freely available to download through GameTap's service.

Gamers can get their hands it on once they install GameTap's free-to-download launcher, for those without "Gold" membership a 15 second video advert plays before each play.

There will be two closed beta tests for the WWIII strategy game too, "one limited and one much much bigger."
