Update: Microsoft has revealed an exact date for Alan Wake, that's 18th May, 2010.

Microsoft has confirmed that Alan Wake will release in May, 2010 for Xbox 360.

The release date was revealed via a new trailer shown at the X10 event in San Francisco.

Disney to focus less on high-end systems, more on casual

During the company's first quarter 2010 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that the firm plans to publish fewer titles for “high-end” systems, putting more focus on casual markets such as the iPhone and iTouch.

"It is pretty clear that the higher end console games are a little bit more challenged in the world where not only they are more costly to produce and market, but there is just much more competition from casual games and games on platforms like the iPhone iTouch platform," said Iger.

Next Assassin's Creed has Ezio in Rome, Ubisoft coy on multiplayer

The next instalment to the Assassin's Creed franchise will again star Italian Renaissance's Ezio de Auditore de Firenze, battling Templar in Rome.

Gamers will "strike directly at the heart" of those power hungry Templar, with Ubisoft steering clear of any multiplayer details for now.

Publisher Sega has confirmed that the Iron Man 2 videogame is set to retail May 4th, and they've "paid close attention" to the first's many flaws.

Exclusive music from "metal superstars" Lamb of God is also included in the sequel, which "definitely evokes the intensity" of Iron man action.

LucasArts and TT Games today announced the development of LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii PSP and DS.

It should release sometime in Autumn 2010 for all platforms.

Team Bondi's L.A. Noire from Rockstar Games isn't just for the Sony PS3 platform anymore, as now it will arrive on the Xbox 360. Hooray!

The fact that it's coming out at all is good news. The latest issue of GameInformer will have plenty of L.A. Noire details, splashed across its pages.

Capcom has announced that Dark Void DLC called 'Survivor Missions' will hit next week over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

It lets gamers relive key moments from the game with increasingly difficult waves of enemies flooding toward you. Score multipliers!

Eidos has revealed via Twitter that a demo will be released for Just Cause 2.

"Just Cause 2 demo on its way, details to follow!" said the firm.

No details on what platforms the demo will be released for, but we should find out more soon.

THQ's Red Faction 4 and Homefront by April 2011, more follow ups

Volition Inc is working on a new Red Faction game, and Kaos Studios' Homefront will join it for a release sometime before April 2011.

THQ expects "accelerated" growth in fiscal 2012, which starts April 1st next year, thanks to Space Marine, Darksiders 2 and Saints Row 3.

Sega has finally given Sonic fans a real name for the blue guy's HD revival, and it looks like they've got some episodes in mind for gamers.

It's fully rendered in 3D but takes place on a 2D plane. A brand new teaser trailer has released from Sega, showing us Sonic in action.

Ubisoft has confirmed to Strategy Informer that Splinter Cell Conviction will be released in Europe on April 15 and in the UK on April 16. Last night the firm confirmed a April 13 date for the US, but no Euro dates were confirmed.

Publisher THQ has patted new IP Darksiders on the back, saying it "delivered strong commercial sales" from 1.2m copies shipped out.

Recently an analyst predicted it "didn't perform" for THQ as they wanted. Well, they aren't letting us know that if true; they sound pleased.

Developer Visceral Games reveals action is getting priority over horror in the upcoming Dead Space sequel, which is set on a large space station.

Number 2 has a lot of "feature innovation" that's more "empowering to the player." The studio love doing "edgy properties" like Dead Space.

Tecmo's Fret Nice is no ordinary 2D platform adventure because it needs you to strum those riffs using a guitar controller. It's on PSN soon.

In fact it'll be on sale tomorrow through the PlayStation Store. Apparently it all started as a "degree thesis", but took off as a fully fledged game.

EA has revealed the first DLC for Dante's Inferno, called 'Trials of St. Lucia', lets you design your own arenas and flood them with enemies.

Players can then team up with a chum to take on the trial, and challenge others online to best your high score. Quite the add-on indeed.

Vigil Games' Darksiders which released last month hasn't met THQ's ambition for the new IP says Signal Hill Capital analyst Todd Greenwald.

He believes it is "likely selling less" than 1m copies despite "heavy marketing dollars" and 2-3 years of development. It's already discounted.

Broadcaster CBS wasn't happy with EA's Dante's Inferno ad that they submitted for a premium slot during Sunday's NFL Super Bowl.

The violence and all that was fine, but its "Go To Hell" message was not. This tagline first struck in its debut trailer. EA alters it for CBS.

Koei confirms Quantum Theory delay in Europe

Koei has told Strategy Informer that Quantum Theory has been delayed in Europe, confirming reports that the game had been delayed until late 2010 in the US and Japan.

"We can confirm that Quantum Theory has been moved to later in 2010. We
feel the game deserves optimum development time, and we aim to deliver the
very best title we can."
said Ben Lawrence, PR Manager for Koei. "We are still thoroughly committed to Quantum Theory and this short delay can only make for a stronger, more entertaining game."
