Reaction to Borderlands' ending not "as strong as we had hoped"

Developer Gearbox Software has talked about the ending to Borderlands, and how they had "lots of different iterations" they went through.

Most appear disappointed with the one they choose, which they'll be "keeping in mind" for the future. Want "more user feedback" next time.

Publisher EA has decided to break the silence and reveal the Mercenaries franchise is continuing, with 'Mercs Inc' as it's next instalment.

Not only that but it's at the "early stages" with Pandemic at their new EA LA digs. This shows EA's commitment to their "rich catalog", they say.

Naughty Dog adding something "quite awesome" to Uncharted 2 multiplayer

Yes this week will see something defined as "awesome" coming to Uncharted 2 multiplayer, reveals developer Naughty Dog.

Whatever this awesomeness is it's coming "at the end of this week." Maybe it's an avalanche of new skins, maps and guns?

Two more servers close for Mythic's WAR, bolster player numbers

Earlier in the year EA Mythic announced the closure of over 60 servers so that player populations were higher on those left running.

Now the same is being done again, except it's just two this time. Warhammer Online "thrives on player interaction" said Andy Belford.

Ubisoft has announced Anno 1404 Venice, the add-on for Anno 1404, a real-time strategy and simulation game released earlier this year. Anno 1404 Venice will combine the signature gameplay mechanics of Anno 1404 and the richness of the Venetian culture. In addition, gamers will now be able to play Anno 1404 with their friends thanks to the new online multiplayer mode.

South Peak dates Two Worlds II for Xbox 360

South Peak has announced that Two Worlds II will be released on the Xbox 360 in North America and the UK in the spring of 2010.

Call of Duty: World at War Patch 1.7 Released

Activision has released patch 1.7 for Call of Duty: World at War. It includes a number of multiplayer fixes, but will only update installations already at 1.6.

Patch notes:
* Fixed an MP server crash exploit.
* Fixed a voice chat crash on systems with no default recording device selected.
* Fixed an issue causing erroneous duplicate qport errors.
* Server admins can disable team switching by setting g_allow_teamchange to 0. Players will be restricted to Auto-Assign in team-based gametypes.

Square Enix confirms Just Cause 2 for March

Square Enix today announced that Just Cause 2 will be released on 23rd March, 2010 in North America and 26th March, 2010 in Europe, Middle East and Australasia.

Developed by Avalanche Studios and using the proprietary Avalanche 2.0 Engine, Just Cause 2 features over 1000Km2 (400miles) of South East Asian island paradise in one of the richest, most realistic game worlds ever seen. Snow-capped mountains, sun-kissed beaches, dense jungle and arid deserts create a stunning backdrop for a unique and compelling take on open-world gameplay.

NCSoft has released a nine-minute long video for Aion that reveals plans for new features and graphical improvements. It's entitled “Vision” and could suggest that the firm is working on game updates or the first expansion pack.

Tekken 6 Patch detailed

Namco Bandi Games has revealed additional details about the forthcoming free downloadable update that will enhance the online experience for players of Tekken 6 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The patch is expected to be released on 26th November.

The update is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode download which is scheduled for release separately this winter.

Assassin's Creed II sells over 1.6 million units in its first week

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin's Creed II has sold over 1.6 million units in its first week worldwide. This represents 32% growth over the first week sales of Assassins Creed.

Assassin's Creed II invites players to become Ezio, a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who's been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy. That teasing surprise for Mass Effect 2 this week from BioWare's community man has been revealed, and it's a website "revamp" to go live soon.

Yeah it's a major let down, unless it sports some new stuff for us to pick over? Apparently it's "looking really cool" says a biased BioWare.

LucasArts: Online co-op for LEGO Indiana Jones 2 in "a few weeks"

Apparently those guys over at LucasArts have noticed that "everyone wants" online co-op play for LEGO Indiana Jones 2. It's totally true.

A patch for the game is in the works and should be ready in "a few weeks" time, for Xbox 360 and PS3 LEGO gamers. No user-created sharing.

Microsoft target of Datel lawsuit, denying "benefits of competition"

The news that Microsoft will permaban all third-party memory units from Xbox 360 consoles through an update hasn't gone down well, not at all.

Datel makes said third-party goods, and frankly is far better in capacity and pricing, and is now taking Microsoft to court for screwing consumers.

The next issue of OPM could well blow the lid off Dead Space 2, or at least an "unannounced horror game," by their account.

Its teaser includes a concept piece from Dead Space, so dots connect. Spike's VGAs could beat OPM to it with planned 'world premieres'.

The last two character class reveals for Star Wars The Old Republic are the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor, which focus on ranged abilities.

The Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior are more melee orientated, and "balanced well" against the ranged, revealed LucasArts' Jake Neri.

Activision "would love" monthly subs for Guitar Hero DLC library

Kai Huang is the Guitar Hero series founder, and he reveals that publishing giant Activision is seriously considering a paid-for online service.

Basically you'd cough up a monthly subscription for constant updates to Guitar Hero. There's "a lot of issues" around music licensing.
