Namco unveil Saber's Inversion, does things 'thought impossible'

An all new action game is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 called 'Inversion', a gravity-defying videogame from Timeshift developer Saber Interactive. It's a sci-fi alien invader romp.

Set in the near future, it's a co-op game featuring gravity manipulation "most people didn't think possible" on current consoles; it's due out next year. It's a "complete thrill" for Saber.

SCEA president Jack Tretton has claimed that Sony has "only just begun" their offensive of "relentless, rich content" for this fiscal. We've got Ratchet and Clank Future after all.

Not to mention God of War III, MAG, and ModNation Racers coming to PlayStation 3 too. The new PS3 Slim, apple of Sony's eye, "surpassed" one million in three weeks.

God of War III has DLC plans, 'makes sense' for new challenges

Stig Asmussen, God of War III's producer, has said there are plans for downloadable content and it would "make a lot of sense" to have them as new challenges for gamers.

We'll maybe see God of War III ship with "a certain amount" of challenges, with a "download pack out" with more in later on. Asmussen says "all the new mechanics" allow variety in trials.

Infinity: MW2 'biggest PC investment', IWNet matches 'kept clean'

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has blogged to dispel "assumptions, and speculation" about the developer's new IWNet match hosting system, replacing PC dedicated servers.

He defends it, saying it takes the "benefits" of dedicated servers and lets them be "utilized and accessed" by all players. Still scant on mod support talk. IWNet features Valve-Anti-Cheat.

Halloween treats for NCsoft MMOs, six events revealed for users

Publisher NCsoft is celebrating Halloween in a big way this year, and all six of their western games will be getting in on it. While some enjoy a hunt and cook off, others face zombies!

The first of these events has already begun with City of Heroes dealing with a "Deadly Halloween Apocalypse" that started yesterday. The events run for a number of spooky days.

Konami revive Rocket Knight, "alluring" remake for XBLA and PSN

Publisher Konami has announced the revival of Sparkster in Rocket Knight, a 16-bit SEGA Megadrive classic, and they'll be sprucing up the 2D-scroller for Xbox 360 and PS3.

This 2.5D platformer will be debuting next year on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. It's got wall ricocheting, rocket drilling, burst projectiles from a sword... everything we need.

OFLC give MA15+ rating to Ghost Recon: Predator, Ubi's next title

Those Australian bureaucrats have gone and spoiled Ubisoft's surprise on what their next Ghost Recon release is all about, which has only been half acknowledged by them.

It's due sometime in fiscal 2010 is all we have officially been told, but now we know it's subtitled Predator thanks to the OFLC. Rabbids Lab is also mentioned by Down Under red tape.

Remedy Entertainment has re-released its 1996 top-down racing game Death Rally for free. The original game has been ported to run on modern PCs, for Windows.

Hironobu Sakaguchi had the mad dream of Final Fantasy, and he's now bossman at Mistwalker Corporation. Their latest project is super secret and it's finishing up now.

That's according to Sakaguchi-san's Mistwalker blog. Previously the developer has released Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, with the Cry On game cancelled last Christmas.

The upcoming mega destination for all things Halo related will be a coupling between Intel and Career, Microsoft have revealed. Each offer separate fixes for Halo junkies gamers.

Intel will house all manner of acquirable content like clips, images, tips and loads more stuff. Career will be stat track central for Halo players, converting achievements into ranks.

Kazunori Yamauchi, GT5's producer, has been seen in a promo clip of a Mercedes SLS AMG holding a boxed Gran Turismo 5 with space for three discs contained within.

It's likely those are just bonus discs in some limited or collector's edition being planned. The clip pans to Yamauchi-san who holds the box set for mere seconds. Our first glimpse.

Infinity let "story dictate" games length, defends Modern Warfare 2

A criticism of the first Modern Warfare was that its singleplayer experience was far too short, clocking in at around 6 hours, but Robert Bowling defends Infinity's creative approach.

The studio "try and focus" on the experience and its delivery, and they let narrative decide "how long" it'll be. Won't make 20 hour game just because some "want a 20 hour game".

Ubisoft has announced that the first of the three episodes from the new Assassin's Creed: Lineage short movies will debut on YouTube. Starting from October 27th, 2009, YouTube will have the first episode of the short movies on its homepage in eight countries throughout the world for a period of 24 hours.

Developed by Ubisoft's Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, Assassin's Creed: Lineage combines live action and computer generated imagery (CGI) to explore the events that happen just before the Assassin's Creed II game starts. The short films revolve around Ezio's father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, and give insight on the game's back story and universe.

Robert Bowling is community man of developer Infinity Ward, he's also the messenger nearly blind folded and shot for delivering news that there's no dedicated server for PC.

Since that hydrogen bomb was dropped, PC gamers have already got a petition armed with nearly 100,000 signatures, which started up yesterday. It's "made a big wave" at Infinity HQ.

'Unofficial' storage devices "no longer" welcome on Xbox 360 soon

When next month's Xbox Live update hits, Major Nelson has revealed that non-Microsoft endorsed storage devices will refuse to work with updated Xbox 360 consoles.

All those "unauthorized" memory units will be blacklisted, so if you've backed up profiles and saves you'd best "move it back" or lose it all. Only those licensed for Xbox 360 will work.

Sega Racing Classic confirmed as Daytona USA HD arcade remake

Bit of a mouthful there, but it's true. The upcoming Sega Racing Classic to hit Sega's Ringwide arcade hardware is in fact a high-def remake of racing classic Daytona USA.

These arcade machines come with a 32" HD screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, and four cabinets can link up with a billboard leader display for old skool brags. No 360/PS3 port.

Kojima pledges Zone of Enders 3, but can't "promise about time"

Metal Gear man Hideo Kojima has revealed to fans that he does intend a Zone of Enders sequel, but unfortunately can't offer a time frame. Already there's a "game plan" for it.

Kojima-san admits Zone of Enders 2 suffered from "errors" in its release window, which was his fault. If he hadn't of "made a mistake" with its launch it could have been "a major" series.

Oddworld arrives on PSN this week, Oddysee and Exoddus return

Lorne Lanning, creator of Oddworld, has blasted the Internet with news that PSone Classics Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus will be on PSN soon.

It's this Thursday in fact, where both gems will be on the PlayStation Store for $9.99 a piece. "Our baby's come home!" proclaims Lanning. The "goofy face and doofy walk" are back.

For the amount of rumours in the videogames industry, to take a pinch of salt each time would obliterate our world's ecosystem. Apparently Killzone 3 is due sometime in 2010.

That's according to the Official PlayStation Magazine, describing it as "deep in development" over at Guerrilla Games. It'd have to be for a date next year, as Killzone 2 took four years to make.

NPD: PlayStation 3 beat Xbox 360 September sales, overtakes Wii

Sony had a super time last month show NPD's US sales data, with their PlayStation 3 platform not only outdoing Xbox 360 but toppling Nintendo Wii for the first time ever.

From last September to this one, Sony is the "big winner" for sure as they've more than doubled sales. This is thanks to the "very strong" consumer reaction to hardware price cuts.
