The Batman: Arkham Asylum news feed on the menu screen reveals that free downloadable content is coming next week, although Eidos won't say what the new content is at the moment.

"We can't talk about DLC for the moment" said Eidos when asked.

Microsoft has explained why Crackdown 2 has gone to start-up Ruffian Games, and not to original developer Realtime Worlds. It's mainly because designer Billy Thomson left.

Corporate execs felt it could only be "correctly nurtured" by the "right team who really understood" what Crackdown was, and that was Thomson and his Ruffian Games studio.

BioWare writer Mac Walters, lead on Mass Effect 2's wordsmithing, has said the sequel is definitely the 'Empire Strikes Back' equivalent in Star Wars. Still "very Mass Effect."

It'll handle all the same themes and elements as the original, just darker. There's a lot "more than meets the eye" with the sequel declares BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk.

Battle Tanks from Gameloft is basically a top-down shooter, but in WWII tanks. Its graphical style has helped it become a "main party attraction", especially at the Gameloft office.

The British developers have poured their hearts out, telling fans over on the PlayStation.Blog exactly how Battle Tanks came to look the way it did. It's on PSN right now.

Realtime Worlds' All-Points Bulletin MMO will be releasing on PC early next year, but not before registrants get their mitts on a closed beta session, in a virtual crime spree.

Community man Chris Collins has said it will begin in a matter of weeks now, and the beta registration process is still open. It's an open-world MMO full of guns, cars and loose morals.

Officially the Dungeon's & Dragon's Online Unlimited service doesn't go live to the public until tomorrow, but micro-transactions have been a huge success already.

VIP subscribers were given a "buttload of points" to buy in-game content, but they burnt through them quickly and starting buying up more. Turbine have sold "millions more" already.

LucasArts' Darrell Rodriguez has given the first indications of the business model Star Wars The Old Republic might adopt, with hints the West will see monthly subscriptions.

However, regions like Asia could see a free-to-play model with micro-transactions. LucasArts see BioWare's MMO continuing "for a very long time" thanks to IP and game quality.

Soon the 'Age of Empires III: Complete Collection' will be gracing retailers worldwide say Microsoft, and includes the original Age of Empires III and its two expansions.

The Asian Dynasties and War Chiefs are bundled in, with the corporate giant slapping an RRP of USD 49.95, or EUR 54.99. Big Huge Games and Ensemble Studios developed the titles.

Square Enix has just told us that a European release date for Final Fantasy XIII will be announced in the near future.

"The PAL release timing will be announced in the near future." said a spokesperson.

Russian developer GSC Game Worlds has recently confirmed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will be hitting the Xbox 360 console, but it won't before 'Call of Pripyat' is released for PC.

As for other major platforms or title releases, GSC's Oleg Yavorsky was coy about specifics. The studio lacks "enough manpower" to make their full console ambitions "come true."

Sony have announced that four stellar PlayStation 3 games, having each sold over 400,000 copies, have been added to the Platinum range of titles. That means cheaper price!

Great timing too what with the PS3 Slim retailing and the price snip for the platform. Metal Gear Solid 4 is likely deserving of a 'Dark Matter' range, given its insane popularity.

Square Enix has just confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will be released for the PS3 in Japan on December 17.

A PS3 bundle with FFXIII is also planned.

According to "an inside source", Sony and LucasArts are partnering up again to develop a casual MMO powered by the Free Realms engine, SOE's free-to-play onliner.

The setting for this third Star Wars MMO would be the Clone Wars. Free Realms currently has over 4 million registered users, and so obviously has something to offer. Still, it's just rumour.

Bungie "don't want" to talk Reach yet, but might get co-op Firefight

With the impending release of Halo 3: ODST, developer Bungie isn't keen to start blabbing about next year's Reach title, but they do admit it could get a co-op Firefight mode.

Firefight is ODST's co-operative mode that covers 10 maps, and so if it "gets a lot of traction" it's likely to have "a good future home" in Reach. Bungie has "no plans" for ODST DLC.

SCEA "aware" users experiencing "isolated issues" with 3.0 update

PlayStation 3 has got its last "significant" update for the year, but it hasn't all been celebration for some users as technical trouble plagues their consoles now.

SCEA acknowledges there are PS3 owners "experiencing isolated issues" since firmware 3.0 was released. Engineers are "looking into the matter" and will provide an update ASAP.

While not revealing exact numbers, it has been confirmed that week 36 is up over "999 percent" on week 35 for PlayStation 3 sales. It's "a very large increase" indeed.

SCEE's Andrew House says "this is the point people were waiting for", a redesigned PS3 model with a "significant price reduction" in Euros. The PS3 beat DS, Wii and Xbox 360 last week.

A Sony representative at the IFA Consumer Electronics show in Berlin revealed some very interesting plans from the corporate giant, like full 3D support for "all" titles in 2010.

Sony however has moved to address those statements, saying it has "no plan" for a market launch of 3D support, and it's just in the stages of "technological investigation". Cool those jets.

Christian Svensson of Capcom doesn't want anyone reading it "the wrong way" but they are interested in remastering classic games, like Devil May Cry 1, if fans are interested.

This comes in the wake of Sony releasing God of War I and II on Blu-ray for PlayStation 3. Capcom sees interest in Devil May Cry to "get this treatment", what's to know of others.

McCartney: Past Beatles would have thought "what a clever idea"

Sir Paul McCartney has expressed his belief that fellow music legends John Lennon and George Harrison would have been completely on board with The Beatles: Rock Band.

The "bottom line" for them is their music "is getting played" says McCartney. Lennon would have "been excited" about Rock Band's concept, and how The Beatles "were represented."

Halo 3: ODST ramps up, minute-and-a-half long live action ad aired

Microsoft in collaboration with director Rupert Sanders, responsible for Halo short 'Believe', has produced a live-action sequence for Halo 3: ODST showing gritty warfare.

The piece shows a soldier going through training, dropping through orbit and facing off against covenant on a war-torn battlefield. It'll be available on Xbox Live tomorrow.
