BlazBlue to grace Europe, PAL gamers to be treated with goodies

The Xbox 360 and PS3 fighter BlazBlue, the new kid on the genre block, will be extending its awesomeness to the European theatre in Q1 2010, thanks to PQube.

The PAL version will include additionals like a character strategy guide, the games soundtrack and some new appearances and moves. BlazBlue is a 2D fighter from Arc Systems.

Sony date MAG for January 26th in US, no European one "as of yet"

The Massive Action Game that's cooking over at Sony will be unleashing its 256-player online mayhem in late January next year, or at least will be in the United States.

The game breaks up the huge armies into squads of 8-players, which co-ordinate with the larger force. Promoted soldiers can take command of squads, or even the whole war effort.

Fairytale Fights hits UK on 23rd October for PS3 and Xbox 360, PC release in 2010

Playlogic has just confirmed that Fairytale Fights will be available at stores in the UK on 23rd October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Fairytale Fights is a truly twisted hack’n’slash platform adventure where players assume the role of a much-loved fairytale character, whose glory days have long since passed. While embarking on a seemingly innocent journey to save a colorful fantasy world from certain disaster, players traverse a series of colourful and enthralling levels filled to the brim with action-packed combat and fairytale-style storylines. Luckily, many different weapons lay strewn throughout the fairytale kingdom, which players can use to slice and dice their way through swathes of cute fluffy bunnies and imposing enemies.

Sega has decided to put its faith in the public by asking what classic Megadrive game should be released next for the Xbox Live Arcade in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the console.

Seven games are featured on this poll, which includes many classics such as Earth Worm Jim, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe II, Revenge of Shinobi and more.

Blizzard's Rob Pardo has voiced his pessimism on Microsoft's Project Natal, noting its problem is "spatial recognition" with your limbs, it's a little "imprecise".

Ubi's Michael de Plater dreams of Natal strategy games, but Pardo doesn't think they'll be achievable yet. Natal is "a step towards it," but isn't actually "it." The first time he's pondered it.

Livingstone: Batman's Rocksteady "are not involved" with Hitman 5

Eidos bigwig Ian Livingstone has crushed rumour that Batman: Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady will be taking the reins for the next Hitman game.

Hitman "always has" and "always will" be IO Interactive's, and that "still continues to be so." An actor's online CV pegged Rocksteady as the guys for the job, after doing some mo-cap.

Dragon Age delay not for technical reasons, just to "finalize things"

BioWare have affirmed all is well with their upcoming RPG Dragon Age: Origins, and the slight delay from late October to early November is just for finalization.

The PS3 version of the game is "coming along great," and will be released just a little while after the Xbox 360 and PC. They focused on making sure each SKU is "up to quality."

Lost Planet 2's 360 demo next week, face the "mighty salamander"

Capcom are letting Lost Planet 2's demo go free next week on the Xbox 360, with it available on the 19th for Gold Live subscribers, and on the 26th for Silver.

You'll be able to take down the huge "Salamander Akrid" boss, through online four-player co-op. The demo is to offer a mere "brief glimpse" into the chaos that awaits in the game.

Smash Cars on PSN August 20th, RC racer with "real-time" physics

TikGames' and Creat Studios' Smash Cars will be hitting the tracks on the PlayStation Network this month, live this 20th for the US PlayStation Store at $14.99.

It's got six-player online or you can just keep to singleplayer, either way you'll be RC racing with "real-time physics" as you pull out all the stops to beat your fellow racers, like aerial stunts.

QuakeCon 09 has no DOOM 4 cameos, "gonna love it" next year

Todd Hollenshead has told QuakeCon'ers that there is to be no DOOM 4 announcement this year, but 2010's QuakeCon will be a whole other matter entirely.

Fellow id man John Carmack revealed that Tech 5's continued progress has really helped with the games development, which is already being approached tightly. What, DOOM 3 wasn't?

Yeah, gaming hardware in the US isn't exactly gunning for Olympic Gold in sales right now. Its nose dived 37 percent, and has year-over-year reveal NPD July numbers.

Meanwhile in Sony land... Executives aren't worried at all because the PS3 is "just getting warmed up", and then they immediately move on to point out flaws in their rivals. Facts FTW!

You just can't keep a cult classic shooter down, especially if it's got 'DOOM' in it. Nerve Software is behind the revival of DOOM 2 for XBLA; no price or date yet.

In addition to online play a four-player split-screen mode will be included, and alongside the original games content will also be a new episode adventure. It originally released in 1994.

Eidos: IO's Mini Ninjas for September 11th, took "stab" at kids game

IO Interactive is known for their mature, gritty and violent adventures with Hitman and Kane & Lynch, but they wanted to try their hands at a more kid friendly title.

Mini Ninjas is "as much an IOI title" as previous offerings they reassure, but you'll be following an 11 year-old Ninja, not an emotionless bald killer. It's for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PC.

EA's "more robust" Army Of Two: 40th Day will arrive January, 2010

The sequel to last year's Army of Two co-op shooter from EA will be unleashing even more dual mercenary craziness when it releases in early January next year.

They've confirmed Army Of Two: 40th Day will retail on January 12th in North America, and four days earlier on the 8th for Europe. It's got "more robust and redesigned" multiplayer.

Rumours be damned, the news is official now. EVE Online developer CCP is working hard with White Wolf on the World of Darkness MMOG, so take a deep breath and relax.

In the MMO, "you are the monster," they tease. Your online persona will be struggling with "the evil that lurks" inside us all. They reckon it'll be "two to three times" more popular than EVE.

Riot unveil League of Legends' latest champions, beta reward skin

The two latest additions to the champion roster of Riot Games' League of Legends are Rammus the Armordillo and Anivia the Cryophoenix, a tank and caster respectively.

For closed beta testers an "exclusive champion skin" will be rewarded for Rammus, as he was one of the "top vote getters". Riot have dished the bios and released some art.

That's right, if you follow Raven developer Manveer Heir's twitter and Wolfenstein happens to outsell EA Sports' Madden 10 then he'll pay for your copy of the game.

Naturally you'd best keep the receipt, and he'll await NPD figures. Meanwhile EA's free-to-play Battlefield Heroes has raked in about $30 million through micro-transactions. Thanks vanity.

This week's European PlayStation Store update is easily dominated by EA Sports' Madden, which has 27 different pieces available all hovering around a British pound.

Red Faction: Guerrilla also gets its Demons of the Badlands add-on, a demo for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is gunslinger for free, and Marvel vs Capcom 2 is up for Trial and Unlock.
