Arkane Studios and Valve's ambitious singleplayer and multiplayer hybrid 'The Crossing' has been put on a long term hiatus.

A "financial challenge" that occurred some months ago has thrown a wrench in the machine explains Arkane CEO Raphael Colantonio. EA reductions had hit the studio back in November.

Sony Online Entertainment's Free Realms has now got one million registered users, with the lucky one millionth getting free lifetime membership.

The positive response to the free-to-play MMO has been "overwhelming" say Sony, who are also handing out free in-game items for other users in celebration. PS3 port still coming.

Scott Miller, co-founder of the Duke Nukem factory 3D Realms, has hit back at Take-Two's "100 percent spin" that they forked over 12 big ones.

Adding that they "cannot talk yet" about events, Miller hints they intend to "soon..." Take-Two have filed a lawsuit against Apogee for raining on their Duke Nukem Forever publishing parade.

Atari have confirmed that the superhero MMO Champions Online has been pushed back from late July to early September for beta polishing.

Developers Cryptic simply need more time to "implement certain features", so now the game arrives on September 1st in the US and on the 4th in Europe. Have your puns ready!

Blizzard knows how to make games, so it stands to reason then they also know how to throw a party about those games - fans agree this principle logic.

In fact they agreed so much that the first block of BlizzCon tickets that went up for sale on Saturday were sold in less than an hour. Is Grunty the murloc marine that popular? Yes.

Okay so perhaps not 'every week', but it's going to run for at least six weeks which is like forever for us gamer types.

It'll be bringing new and classic revivals to the free-to-play multiplayer shooter, with this "6 new maps in 6 weeks" blitz beginning today. Hidden Fortress starts us off (DreamCast's Quake III).

New boss Yosuke Hayashi of Team Ninja has revealed the developer has intentions of more in the Ninja Gaiden series, the "calling is already there".

So, fans want it and Hayashi-san wants to give it - that's the bottom line. The new studio head goes against what Tomonobu Itagaki said about no more, but then he's not the boss.

A rumour surfaced that the PC only Battlefield Heroes would in fact be making its way onto Xbox 360 and PS3, but that's a load of tosh say EA.

They're adamant it's "tailor-made for PC" what with it being free to download and play, backed up with micro-transactions and in-game adverts. Gamers "don't need" super-computer.

The PC specifications for the upcoming new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from developers GSC have been released on their official website; they're not apocalyptic.

The minimum and recommended list fall well within the budget of a reasonably good PC, by today's mega standards anyway. I mean, honestly, who only has 512 MB RAM now?

While development on their military game may have fell through the cracks, Croteam are still very much alive with caffeine in their veins.

Berlin-based Frogster are a happy publisher indeed, their Runes of Magic MMO has reached one million registered users across Europe and the US.

They're utterly "convinced" that'll grow even more when the expanded language versions ship out the door. For two years the team have looked for a "real hit title", now they have one.

Formula One 2010's executive producer Gavin Raeburn has said that multiplayer is just as crucial as the "single-player experience," for them anyway.

Choice for players is important, letting fans play "with like-minded players" is major as arcade types won't mix well with hardcore sim nuts. Plans to have "drama", "rivalry" and "glamour".

An announcement is due on May 18th that will reveal Kojima Productions' "Next" project to anxious fans, but that hasn't stopped them place holding a tease.

A grassy field with near naked trees and rolling gloomy clouds now occupies Kojima's web space for this new project. The source code for the webpage reveals "Metal Gear" tags.

The recent 'revelation' from Twitterer GameFork that Rockstar Games latest GTA IV DLC is called 'Blood And A Four Leafed Clover' has fans gurgling.

The developers themselves of course offer no comment "on rumour and speculation". They also have no E3 showcase plans whatsoever yet, but that doesn't mean no teasing news.

Steve Spielberg, that guy to do with moving pictures, has commented there's been no "major success" with tie-in projects between cinema and videogames.

No "convergence, thus far" but it is going to happen says the Spielberg. When it does finally occur "it will be dynamite," he reckons. Peace on Earth might have 'occurred' first though.

Known as End of Eternity in Japan land, Resonance of Fate will be JRPGing its way into the hands of us Western gamers thanks to SEGA.

This is the first time Tri-Ace have ever "fully partnered up" with someone other than Square Enix, with the game heading to Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans will "have to wait" for story details.
