Microsoft announced today that a new DLC add-on for Halo Wars will be released on 21st July called Historic Battles. It contains four new maps and four new achievements for 800 MS points.

Lee Perez, Producer on Raven Squad, has told Strategy Informer that a PlayStation 3 version of the hybrid FPS/RTS could be possible, but it all comes down to how well the game is received and if there's enough demand for it.

505 Games announced today that Guilty Gear 2: Overture will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on 4th September 2009. Guilty Gear 2 will take fans in a bold new direction, borrowing elements from genres outside of the traditional one-on-one fighting action for which Guilty Gear has become famed.

Guilty Gear 2: Overture developer Arc System Works has blended action and real time strategy for their latest instalment, and for the first time have introduced 3D graphics the series. As well as taking control of their chosen character, players will command legions of loyal followers to crush all in their path. Battles are won and lost by destruction of opponents' strongholds, known as "Masterghosts" and by successfully defending one's own from enemy attack.

Tropico 3 for Xbox 360, Kalypso Media enters console market

Kalypso Media today announced that an Xbox 360 version of Tropico 3 is in development. This was previously announced as a PC exclusive, but this announcement will see Kalypso Media enter the next-generation console market with games exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Stefan Marcinek, Global Managing Director Kalypso Media Group said: "The Tropico 3 release on the Xbox 360 is a first for Kalypso and marks the beginning of an exciting entry into the console market. Throughout 2010 Kalypso Media have plans to release four titles in tandem on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Through this we will be able to demonstrate our strong PC Line up with new multiplatform games and this gives us some great opportunities for the year ahead."

Creative Assembly cancels second Stormrise Patch due to costs

Creative Assembly Australia revealed today that the second patch for RTS Stormrise has been cancelled due to certification issues, cost of development and distribution.

"All we can say is that what's being said on the community forums is true and we're sorry we can't get the patch out." said a spokesperson.

SEGA announced today that Alpha Protocol will be available in Europe during October 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The year is 2009. Worldwide political tensions are at a breaking point when a commercial airliner is shot down by a U.S. missile over Eastern Europe, killing all aboard. Despite evidence to the contrary, the U.S. government claims no involvement and dispatches agent Michael Thorton to bring those responsible to justice.

SouthPeak Interactive confirmed to Strategy Informer today that its upcoming tactical action game, Raven Squad, isn't going to be released this month, and that a new date should be revealed soon.

"Raven Squad is definitely not MIA. At the moment they’re deep behind enemy lines on a reconnaissance mission and HQ is expecting a full briefing on their progress soon." said a spokesperson.

Haemimont Games: We are looking into console versions of Grand Ages: ROME, Xbox 360 best suited

In an interview with Haemimont Games, Strategy Informer learned that the company is looking at the possibility of porting its upcoming Grand Ages: ROME to consoles, although it suggested that the Xbox 360 would be best suited for this style of game.

"We will look at the possibility, as the demographic and installed base increases on console it becomes more of an opportunity for us, if anything Xbox 360 is best suited for this style of game." said Boyan Ivanov, game designer at Haemimont Games.

Capcom Dates Flock for PC, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network

Capcom has confirmed this morning that its upcoming sheep-herding arcade game called Flock! Will be released on Xbox Live on April 8th, PC April 7th and PlayStation Network on April 9th.

In Flock!, players take control of a UFO that has been given the challenge of herding farm animals to its mothership through a variety of puzzle-filled interactive levels, including corn fields, pastures and other “plushie”-like environments. In order to succeed, players will have to manage the quirkiness of the animal’s distinct behaviors, as well as solve a series of environmental puzzles using Flock's! physics-based gameplay.

Bonfire Studios Emerges from Ensemble

The second company to emerge from the former Ensemble Studios was announced today. Bonfire Studios is a 35 person studio currently working on an original IP to be announced in the coming months. The Bonfire team is made up entirely of former Ensemble employees fresh off of the highly anticipated Halo Wars.

"Ensemble had an incredible group of highly talented people and the companies coming out of it are really made up of the best of the best. Ensemble was one of the few studios with two A-teams," said David Rippy, president and CEO of Bonfire Studios. "We are already working on an original IP that we'll start talking about in the next few months."

Capcom revealed today that on Monday, February 23rd, a brand new trailer for an unannounced title will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

In order to download the new title announcement trailer, an Xbox 360 console and network connection to Xbox Live is required.

Over on The Behemoth Developer's Blog, artist Dan Paladin has revealed the independent team are working on a new title, but cannot expose what it is yet.

Paladin claimed, "We've been prototyping a new title. A new game, YES!! Sorry, I can't tell you what it is yet! I can tell you though that we are off to a very strong and solid start."

Aaron Greenberg: Xbox 360 is the lead global platform for third parties

In an interview with Kotaku, Microsoft's Director of Product Management Aaron Greenberg said that the Xbox 360 has gained enough ground to cause a lead over PlayStation 3 third-party support, suggesting that companies will no longer feel the need to support the PlayStation.

"I think what we'll see is, as a result of how 2008 shaped up - the fact that we had our biggest year in history and we're now expanding our lead over the PS3 in a global basis - we went into 2008 with a solid lead over PS3 in North America, but Europe was a much closer race. Now, we're really expanding our lead there," he said. "We've become, by far, the lead global platform for third parties. I think you'll see us getting some benefits from that."

At last week's CES 09 in Las Vagas, Xbox 360 product manager Aaron Greenberg told Joystig that Microsoft are looking into lifting the Live friends amount to over its current limit of 100.

"I can't commit to when that will happen, but that is something we want to do. It's definitely something we're looking at expanding and, as this social network grows, we've absolutely heard the pleas for that. It's on the list." said Greenberg.
