It's official pronounces Elite creator David Braben, that the Infinity Ward we grew to love for Call of Duty "is dead." it's set to be "different" from now on.

Braben blasts Acti for appearing "not to value" their own teams, or understanding 'what they care about'. Studios "a lot more" than just tools and tech.

Treyarch is 100 percent Call of Duty, "has been for a long time now"

Studio boss Mark Lamia of Treyarch remarks how they're fully Call of Duty, "long before" those Infinity Ward troubles flared up. It's all they do now.

This has led to a "dedicated multiplayer team" being formed at Treyarch, to help shape the online experience across all their Call of Duty releases.

Call of Duty: Black Ops developer Treyarch admits the situation over at fellow Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward is far less than an ideal one.

Their exodus isn't something they "think about too much" over at Treyarch though, says Josh Olin; keeping "heads down and staying focused."

Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games says every developer should be pushing their projects to reach the limit of what the Unreal Engine can accomplish.

He says that Gears of War 3 should "absolutely" stretch their current generation to the breaking point. Each game is "an evangelist" for UE3.

Sledgehammer want recruits for Call of Duty "first-person shooter"

Activision's Sledgehammer Games is looking for new developers to join the studio to work on a first-person shooter in the Call of Duty franchise.

A slew of job ads have gone up looking to swell their ranks in Foster City, California. Recently a number of trademarks went for Call of Duty.

Well okay technically it won't be because they've renamed it Alien Breed Impact, and it comes with better customisation, co-op and prologue.

They listened to fans of the XBLA release and improved the game with Impact "in many areas," which should give us "much tighter gameplay" for all.

Square Enix's Front Mission Evolved embraces 3D, due September

The revamp of the classic Front Mission franchise has been delayed till September, reveals Square Enix. The good news is that it'll have 3D.

The third-person action shooter is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. We get to play war in a "massive humanoid," and fully customisable Wanzer.

PC Gamer has Crysis 2 pegged for December, EA "cannot confirm"

The latest issue of PC Gamer magazine has a tiny box with December in it for Crytek's Crysis 2, but publisher EA can't comment on that yet.

They've "not actually confirmed" when the sci-fi shooter sequel hits the shops, so they "unfortunately" can't say if December is accurate or not.

Zombie Cow's Privates would "not pass peer review" for Xbox Live

Microsoft has more or less confirmed that Privates from British developer Zombie Cow will not be allowed release onto the Xbox Live Marketplace.

It's a humorous game dealing with sexual disease, and funded by the UK's Channel 4. However the "strong sexual content" isn't XBL friendly.

BioShock's original pitch idea released by studio Irrational Games

The BioShock the world has come to know could have been a very different beast, thanks to Irrational Games uploading their original pitch papers.

It would have focused on conflict between "religious fanaticism and unbounded science", which the award-winning BioShock does touch on.

Paramount working on Top Gun game for PS3 and PC

Paramount Digital today announced that it's working on a Top Gun game that will be released via the PlayStation Network and on PC. The game will be a free-flying air combat shooter based on the film.

Sad news for Ghost Recon fans as Ubisoft's Kimi Matsuzaki has revealed that Future Soldier is now pushed back into early next year.

While it's not certain we should also "anticipate" that its beta will also get delayed, but "don't take this as fact!" It moved to avoid the competition.

Romero 'regrets and apologises' for PC Daikatana's ad campaign

Doom co-creator John Romero has now offered an apology ten years after Daikatana's 'make you my bitch' ad campaign hit us in the face.

The veteran notes the "ad changed everything" and he had enjoyed "a great relationship" with gamers up until then. Daikatana wasn't loved.

Modern Warfare 2's Resurgence map pack detailed, is up June 3rd

There'll be three new maps and another two that are remakes, in the upcoming Resurgence DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2.

They hit Xbox Live first on June 3rd for 1200 MSP, like the first map pack. The names are Carnival, Trailer Park, Fuel, Vacant and Strike.

Publishing giant Activision has slapped their name on some more Call of Duty domain names, with Advanced, Secret and Space in them.

Another is Future, which is exactly what Acti appears to be securing for the franchise. Each are registered multiple times to really nab the names.

THQ announces Metro 2033 Ranger Pack DLC for PC and Xbox 360

THQ has announced that it will release the Metro 2033 Ranger Pack DLC for Xbox 360 and PC (via Steam) soon.

The Ranger Pack adds new weapons, new achievements and the deadly Ranger Mode game rules. In standard Ranger Mode, ammo is dramatically reduced and all weapons cause more damage. Enemies will also be tougher, so watch out for that.

Counter-Strike: Source has "extensive update" in beta says Valve

Developer Valve, in partnership with Hidden Path Studios, has been working on an update to Counter-Strike: Source. All beta slots have gone.

New stuff includes 144 new achievements to earn, all-new match and lifetime stat tracking, new scoreboards and end-of-round post screens.

Zombie Cow making "totally crazy" Privates, educational and "filthy"

The UK's Channel 4 has asked Zombie Cow to make an educational game about diseases, of the sexual variety - much hilarity ensues.

Zombie "can't imagine" you have ever played a game quite like this, and Channel 4 has "been awesome" by letting the studio do their thing.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gets 4-player co-op mode, 5m now sold

EA has announced that since March 2010, DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold over 5 million copies, with 4m of that in the first month.

Bigger news for multiplayer fans is the impending arrival of 'Onslaught' mode, a 4-player co-op trial for online squad mates to test their mettle.

EA reconfirms Dead Space 2 for PC

It was originally thought that Dead Space 2 wouldn't be developed for PC, but EA has confirmed that it is coming to PC after all.

The game is currently set for a Q1 2011 release, and is listed for consoles, PC and handheld/mobile devices.
