Speaking with people present at the GameFest in Seattle, Epic's President Mike Capps has said that Epic is currently working on Unreal Engine 4, although it might not be released for another ten years, when Mike suspects the next-generation of consoles to be released.

Capcom doesn't want to water down the gore in Resident Evil 5

Capcom has revealed that it will not be cutting down on the amount of gore that will be present in Resident Evil 5 as an attempt to get a lower age certification.

"We’re never going to create a gore-free Resident Evil title to try and get a lower rating as it's a game about the horror experience and gore is part of that," commented Rhys Cash, Capcom UK's research and planning manager.

PS3 Bioshock to contain the same visuals as Xbox 360 version

Bioshock Senior producer Melissa Miller has revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of BioShock will match the same quality of visual content seen in the Xbox 360 version, so PS3 owners won't be getting a graphically enhanced BioShock.

Capcom is to release 1942: Joint Strike onto the Xbox Live Arcade today, which will cost you 800 MS Points.

1942: Joint Strike takes inspiration and influence from the ‘80s 194X’s series of Capcom vertical arcade shooters. The art, sound and gameplay give the player hints of the 194X series, but will standout as it’s own unique entry. Gameplay will essentially be 2D, but the game will utilize a fully 3D engine.

Epic Games and Ballantine Books announced today that Del Rey will publish three novels set in the gritty world of the Gears of War video game series. The first novel, Gears of War: The battle of Aspho Fields, written by #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss, will go on sale October 28, 2008. The Gears of War 2 video game, the highly anticipated sequel to the third-person shooter that won over 30 game of the year awards, will be released worldwide exclusively for the Xbox 360 on November 7, 2008.

Doom 4 packs better visuals than Rage, "going to be a 30Hz game"

While Doom 4 will be powered by the same id Tech 5 technology as Rage, co-founder and designer John Carmack says it would appear to be "a totally new game engine".

Whereas the open-world shooter Rage will run at 60FPS, id will be able to chuck "three times as much horsepower" at Doom 4 running at 30FPS.

Valve announced at E3 that their upcoming zombie survivor game Left 4 Dead will feature two player split screen action, as well as four player co-operative online.

Also the characters have had a run in with the art department as they get redesigned. So there are no battle-hardened vets with the gear to match, just poor s.o.b.s. - with guns.

Following our string of live updates, we give you Microsoft’s announcement of a new interface coming this Autumn for all 360 users.

Dubbed the “new xbox live experience”, this new interface will be modelled along similar lines as the expected PS3 ‘Home’ system.

The new interface will include ‘Avatars’ (more realistic looking Mii’s), video and picture sharing, along with a load more community based options.

During an Microsoft press conference at E3 2008, Shane Kim revealed that the exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV DLC will be arriving later this year.

No other details have been revealed.

E3 2008: Gears of War 2 for 7th November, 5 player co-op mode called "Horde" revealed

During a live demonstration of Gears of War 2 at E3 2008, Microsoft announced that it'll be released on 7th November, 2008. A new mode called “Horde” has also been revealed, which allows gamers to play with five players in a co-op mode against an onslaught of Locusts.

Expect more details on Gears of War 2 soon.

Speaking at Microsoft’s E3 keynote speech, producer Jun Takauchi revealed that, for the first time in the series, Resident Evil 5 will feature an online co-op mode.

It will allow players to play through the campaign together and work together to defeat obstacles.

Following a Game Informer report on the NEOGaf forums, new screenshots and details have emerged for the new Wolfenstein game.

The sequel to the well known franchise will be set in WWII, with the Nazis as your principle enemy. You’ll be able to utilise a selection of guns and supernatural powers as weapons.

Bungie had already hinted in a recent podcast that something could be coming our way this E3 but now GameSpot claims to have a source that lets slip this unlikely bogus news.

Apparently the next Halo game is a tactical shooter that follows a squad of marines. While other details were left sketchy, it would support co-op play throughout the campaign.

The Too Human demo that Microsoft promised for today has been released early, its available now from the Xbox Live Marketplace and is available in all regions except Japan for 1.09GB.

We're downloading it now, although it appears to be going very slow. Expect a lot of people to be downloading this one.

Quake Live is the "free and easily accessible browser-based" shooter title from Id Software that's based on Quake 3 Arena, announced last year.

There's big prize money from the likes of Intel and Alienware too with id saying a raffle-winner, with special limited entry, could score a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe.

The Official Operation Flashpoint 2 website has just been launched, and it brings news of a release date change from Winter to 2009.

If you click the video tab on the website, you'll see that a trailer is expected to be released on 11th July, this Friday. We will have the trailer up for viewing on Strategy Informer too, once its made available.

EA: Tiberium not making an appearance at this year's E3

EALA Community Manager Justin Korthof let Strategy Informer know that Tiberium, a Command and Conquer FPS title, will not be making an appearance at this years E3.

“Just to update you, we will not be showing Tiberium at E3 this year. The team’s priorities have them 100% heads down in making an awesome gameplay experience, and they’re going to remain focused on that. The big push will be starting later this year, though, so you’ll be getting plenty of new goodies then!” said Korthof.
