505 Games has announced that the publisher have acquired the exclusive publishing rights to the Rugby World Cup 2011, and that the game will be developed by HB Studios for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for release August 29, 2011.

Publisher SEGA has given the nod for Virtua Tennis 4 to grace the PC through digital distribution in the US but also as boxed copies in Europe.

There's an "enhanced online mode" for PC gamers they say, with leaderboards and a "new social clubhouse" for chums to enjoy party games and exhibitions.

A racy, unreleased trailer with Serena Williams and actress Rileah Vanderbilt (who has appeared in such films as the slasher film Hatchet) that was shot for Top Spin 4 was briefly leaked on YouTube, then pulled, but not after getting over a million views.

Those tree hugging liberals at EA Sports have succeeded in a mighty coup for Mother Earth. No more will EA Sports games include printed game manuals.

Instead all 'how to' details will be included in-game. March 1st was the beginning of this initiative with Fight Night Champion the first with no physical manual.

Licensing looks set to put a serious crimp in the future of EA Sports MMA as UFC parent company Zuffa is in the final stages of its Strikeforce buyout.

The rival brand is the lifeblood of EA Sports MMA as it featured the promotion's roster of fighters. Unless a new deal is brokered the series looks dead.

Studio DICE is using the animation technology that EA Sports put together for more realistic looking players in Madden and FIFA for Battlefield 3 soldiers.

Lead animator Tobias Dahl said he "started looking into the sport games" because of their accomplishments; animation "drives their games". It's called ANT.

Fight Night Champion producer Mike Mahar has huge belief in the EA Sports MMA franchise, saying it was "far better" than what it was rated by critics.

EA will "stick around the genre" and the next MMA entry will be "bigger and better," he said. With a sequel it "will be undeniable" who's the MMA champ.

The latest instalment of Virtua Tennis from SEGA has just had its official release dates announced, and Europe will be whacking those balls first.

Virtua Tennis 4 is their "strongest ever" character roster. It releases for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii in Europe April 29th, and in North America May 10th.

MLB 11: The Show co-op mode revealed, demo released

PlayStation 3 baseball fans will be pleased to know that the demo for MLB 11: The Show is now available on PSN. The demo will allow players to play four innings at AT&T Park between the Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants, who faced off in the 2010 World Series.

The PlayStation US Blog has also revealed the new co-op mode for MLB 11, which allows friends to play together in the game.

Creative director Todd Batty for SSX: Deadly Descents has said the game still has about 15 months of development ahead of it, making it late 2012.

Details of the game have surfaced: We're a part of the SSX corporation in a story, there are 200-300 tracks over 9 peaks, multipliers and Elise return.

Sky Sports have been told by the UK's media regulator Ofcom that its use of the EA Sports logo during a recent football match was poor "editorial judgement".

Sky admit the EA branding was "not linked" to any "programme sponsorship arrangements" with the publisher. Ofcom took no action beyond a worded caution.

Electronic Arts has posted a new blog showing off the first of two new features of Madden NFL 12: a surprise onside kick, as seen in the vid below.

The second new feature is one seen in last year’s NHL and NCAA Football EA Sports titles, “Tuner Sets”. Tuner Sets allows EA Sports to tweak tuner settings without having to do a major update.
