5th Cell is developing an all-new property called Hybrid which is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, and it's a third-person shooter to boot.

It's bound for Xbox Live Arcade next year. The developer is the mastermind behind Nintendo DS' charming Scribblenauts. A Hybrid teaser site is up.

Microsoft has been enjoying a bumper crop in Xbox 360 sales these past 3 months, selling 2.8m, and they largely cite this down to Halo: Reach.

It's a 38 percent rise of sales from the same period of July to September from '09, while Halo: Reach pulled in $350m its first two weeks on sale.

F.E.A.R 3 dated for March 22nd

Warner Bros. has revealed that F.E.A.R. 3 will be released on March 25th, 2011 in Europe for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Strategy Informer can confirm that the US will get it slightly earlier on 22nd March, 2011.

Blacklight: Tango Down "worth more" than what you paid says dev

Zombie Games' Jared Gerritzen has defended Blacklight: Tango Down from poor reviews saying that a lot of reviewers "treated it like" a $60 title.

The studio got "a lot of rave" receptions from those who looked at it as "a DLC game." Zombie made a "crap-load of content" - worth the money.

Zipper releases MAG patch v2.02

Having already released their big MAG update to include PlayStation Move functionality, Zipper Interactive offers a few tweaks to the experience.

The studio also took aim at some "game crash scenarios" that were causing a nuisance. Move can now control your guy while parachuting - phew.

Wedbush Morgan's crystal ball reader Michael Pachter says that studio Treyarch is always regarded as "the 'other'" Call of Duty developer - poor guys.

The games press carries a deep prejudice against their efforts says Pachter, so we'll "find many things wrong" compared to Infinity Ward's instalments.

Browser-based QuakeLive has just been updated by id Software with four new maps, but these are only accessible to users who pay subscriptions.

You need to be a Premium or Pro QuakeLive member to reap id's offering, which is priced at $1.99 or $3.99 per month respectively. Maps are out today.

Microsoft: "Previous games won't be patched to support Kinect"

Microsoft Game Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer has revealed that the firm isn't planning to patch any previous games to be used with Kinect. Spencer wants to create new experiences, and won't be following in the footsteps of PlayStation Move.

"No I want to create new. I want to create new experiences. I do think existing franchises have opportunities. We showed Forza as something that we've obviously shipped before, and we're very proud with the track record of that franchise." said Spencer.

Doom pulled from XBLA due to "expiring rights, back up shortly"

Super PC classic Doom was pulled from Xbox Live Arcade as rights expired say ZeniMax, but the id Software shooter will be "back up soon" they say.

It was published by Activision at the time but developer id is now owned by ZeniMax, and they're putting their stamp on it. Double D Dodgeball as well.

SEGA "reasonably encouraged" by Vanquish, up against major IPs

Sci-fi shooter Vanquish from PlatinumGames has SEGA "encouraged" by its initial sales figures, noting it's up against some big "established franchises".

New IP is always a challenge but Vanquish's retail performance so far has SEGA hopeful. They need to see week one and two sales to 'feel it out better'.

Treyarch voice Black Ops' Alex Mason to "create a connection"

Lead character Alex Mason in Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops was given a face and voice so the player can "relate to him" from the very first scenes.

This is a first for the Call of Duty series, to actually humanise the player avatar. We'll see "Mason's relationships" shift as we go "back and forth".

THQ "delighted" with Homefront novel, co-written by major authors

Homefront isn't just a videogame for THQ as they announce the "first element" of their "vast transmedia strategy" for this new franchise - a novel for 2011.

This work of fiction is co-written by John Milius (Red Dawn, Apocalypse Now) and Raymond Benson (NY Time's best-seller). Homefront retails March 2011.

Killzone 3 beta codes going out "early this afternoon" reveal Sony

New Tribes battle "100+ players"

Hi-Rez, developer of Global Agenda, is making an all-new Tribes game with the goal of "100+ players" battling in the same map. It's a PvP MMO.

It's called Tribes Universe and exists because they "can't transform" Global Agenda to support "large scale fighting." It's a "significant rewrite" or two.

DICE understands PC gamer fears that Battlefield 3 will fall prey to 'consolization' what with it arriving for both Xbox 360 and PS3 too, but don't panic.

They know porting anything from consoles gets "flamed hard," as PC gamers "are more forgiving" of complexity. BF3 gets "special attention" on PC.

PS Move Time Crisis next month

Long-time series Time Crisis is back in on-rails action next month with Time Crisis: Razing Storm releasing for PS3 for use with PlayStation Move.

It will also include "two bonus titles" when it launches early November: Deadstorm Pirates and Time Crisis 4. UK gets it 2 days later than Europe.

EA patch PC Medal of Honor

Danger Close has patched Medal of Honor for PC having sifted through feedback from the multiplayer beta, and have fully detailed the "change/fix list."

There's no word yet on title updates for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. The PC patch includes weapon and control tweaks alongside bug fixes.

THQ: North Korea "really cooperative" in helping sell Homefront

THQ's Danny Bilson jokes that their unsettling attitude toward the world helps 'sell' the "speculative fiction" thanks to "paranoid theory". DPRK FTW!

Okay you win Activision for having the most lavish videogaming merchandise, what with your "integrated partnership" with car makers Chrysler Group.

Within its first 5 days of being on sale EA's Medal of Honor cleared 1.5m copies sold worldwide, but no dollar bills were mentioned at the time.

Now EA CEO John Ricitiello spills that the reboot has in fact earned a very handsome $100m in revenue for them, and it's not even Christmas yet.
