Criterion has "great collaboration" with DICE on Need for Speed

Burnout creator Criterion, based in UK's Guildford, has been getting chummy with Battlefield developer DICE on the new Need for Speed.

Criterion say about 15-25 DICE artists helped create the Hot Pursuit world, working with "handling guys" to make sure it "drives well and feels right".

Bad news race fans - Atari has confirmed that Eden Games' Test Drive Unlimited 2 will now retail in Q1 2011, instead of this late September.

That means the beta gets pushed back too with a new date in the coming weeks. Eden can "further advance the game" with this extra time.

Disney's Black Rock Studios want feedback from Split/Second fans to help shape future DLC, as they announce 4 packs are already coming.

The first 3 are vehicle-based and due the "next couple of weeks" while the 4th is a "major" DLC pack with a new environment due September.

Disney has revealed the first details about the downloadable content for Split/Second on the game's Facebook page. This month will see three new DLC packs released over the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

There's been no mention of the PC, but we'll get in contact with Disney to see if we can find out anything.

Raven's Singularity "fell short" of the "exceptionally high bar" for the shooter genre, luckily Call of Duty picked up the slack, it 'set the bar' after all.

Bizarre's racer Blur was "not able to break out" either but it did break "new ground" in terms of features defends Activision; a "significant investment".

Sony has detailed Polyphony Digital's Collector's Edition for Gran Turismo 5 and it comes with many things to celebrate the games arrival.

There's a leather wallet, a 200-page Apex drivers mag, a Signature Edition coffee table book, branded USB stick and some other goodies.

A sequel to Need for Speed: Shift has ever so quietly been announced via EA's fiscal line-up, noting that Shift 2 will hit Q4 of this financial year.

That's from January to March 2011 to us in non-fiscal calendar speak. Previously it was online CVs that blew existence of Shift 2; now it's real.

Next year Colin McRae: DiRT 3 will arrive with other 50 rally cars confirms Codemasters, featuring the best of "five decades of the sport".

A trailer recently confirmed DiRT 3 with players starting their career on top of the profession. Car control will get pushed to "spectacular limits".

This Wednesday a major update for ModNation Racers comes from Sony, shortening the time it takes to load and adds a Casual difficulty.

The new Colin McRae: DiRT 3 has been teased by Codemasters through a debut trailer, with a slick rally car belting along multiple terrains.

Curiously there's a truck container that explodes with the car drifting underneath it - does this mean its 'going Hollywood'? No platforms given.

In an interview with Develop, Codemasters’ SVP of production Jame MacDonald revealed that sequels are being worked on for Race Driver: Grid and Operation Flashpoint.

The company's Southam studios are working on the new iterations of Race Driver: Grid and Operation Flashpoint, along with a new Dirt game too.

Sony and developer Polyphony Digital are running a competition where entrants must think up a great name for the song used in GT5's E3 trailer.

The deadline is July 25th and a winner will be immortalised with their name among the 'Special Thanks' section of Gran Turismo 5's credits.

US sales data for Bizarre Creations' Blur hasn't been all that hot for May but publisher Activision says slow starts are no longer "a death sentence."

They cite DJ Hero as the "perfect example" which suffered low sales but picked up to 1.2m copies. It just needed time for its audience "to find it."
