Ofcom unhappy with Sky's EA ads

Sky Sports have been told by the UK's media regulator Ofcom that its use of the EA Sports logo during a recent football match was poor "editorial judgement".

Sky admit the EA branding was "not linked" to any "programme sponsorship arrangements" with the publisher. Ofcom took no action beyond a worded caution.

Electronic Arts has posted a new blog showing off the first of two new features of Madden NFL 12: a surprise onside kick, as seen in the vid below.

The second new feature is one seen in last year’s NHL and NCAA Football EA Sports titles, “Tuner Sets”. Tuner Sets allows EA Sports to tweak tuner settings without having to do a major update.

Electronic Arts has debuted the rumored new SSX game, subtitled Deadly Descents, and developed by the skate team. As the title implies, the game seems to be focusing on "extreme" snowboarding - jumping from a helicopter onto a mountain during a violent blizzard, and then gliding like Batman the rest of the way.

EA's boxer roster for 2011's Fight Night Champion has been revealed along with the box art cover star, who will be David 'The Hayemaker' Haye.

All-in-all FNC will feature 54 sportsmen of the ring for Xbox 360 and PS3, ranging from major hitters (pun optional) to snot-nosed newcomers.

Bless those DICE developers because the digital release of Battlefield 1943 only went and pulled in revenue of $16m for EA, launching on XBLA and PSN.

There's still a PC version coming apparently. The other top performer was FIFA Ultimate Team DLC cashing up $45m in profit for FIFA 09 and 10.

According to a source EA Canada is the studio behind the new SSX game that the publisher has under wraps, and it will be going "back to its roots".

It will be using controls like that in EA's Skate where the right analogue performs tricks, in fact much of the Skate team is behind the new SSX.
