Gearbox title revealed: Aliens Colonial Marines, with Sega

Remember Gearbox said they had a big announcement coming soon not too long ago? Well, Game Informer just released the cover of their March issue. Guess what it is.

That's right, we're getting an Aliens FPS. It took long enough. The original movie is getting close to its 30th birthday and the number of games on it, while high, haven't really lived up to their promise

But with Sega and Gearbox behind the wheel on this one, we may just be getting the first taste of a great Aliens game. Can't wait to find out more on it.

Stop the presses! Videogames make you popular!

Or that's what Games Radar is saying in a short article about how the Manchester Cathedral, which was in and partially obliterated in Insomniac's PS3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man. Ever since the Church decided to claim blasphemy against Sony for the game, and since the game's release, supposedly the number of people coming to that church has dramatically risen.

This should be taken with a pinch of salt, or maybe two, since there are no numbers listed. In any case, the reason for higher numbers seems to be because kids who've played the game or heard of the news on it didn't actually know the building really existed.

So, of course, they're interested in seeing it in real life. "Teachers tell us that teenagers in particular are interested to see a building which they thought was fictional."

Well...guess this means in-game advertising isn't the only way to make money. Now it can be not just product placement, but place placement. Or something like that.

World In Conflict, just a year late on consoles
Posted: 14.02.2008 15:32 by Comments: 2
Remember when World In Conflict, the PC RTS game that shook it up against the likes of Supreme Commander last September? Well, it was always set to release on the Xbox 360 for those who didn't know, but it was also meant to be out in December. As in, 2007.

That's right, we were supposed to have a game other than Unreal Tournament 3 to spend our money on after the November fiasco.

There hasn't been much word on the console version since winter 07, but we just got word that it's officially set for a fall release this year. As in, a year late. Not that the RTS genre has really made it big on the 360, and hasn't even been tried on the PS3 yet, but maybe we'll see the PS3 version with keyboard and mouse support. I mean, UT3 had it.

NFL Tour is an arcade-style football game. The rules have been simplified and changed to make for a more fast-paced, strategyless, run-and-gun type of game. So how did this turn out? Andi Hamilton shares his opinion.

New superhero MMO from Cryptic Studios called Champions Online
Posted: 14.02.2008 07:34 by Jamie Comments: 0
With the Marvel Universe Online MMO canned, Cryptic Studios seem to have salvaged what they could from the wreckage and plan to unleash a new wave of heroes and villains. Champions Online would be in direct competition with Cryptic's own previous creation, City of Heroes that NCsoft is now in possession off with an internal development group made up of ex-Cryptics.

Champions Online will be blasting, flying and zapping its way to the PC with mentioning of consoles too but how this ambition plays out only time can tell.

Disney to tear up the dirt with extreme ATV racing

Looking to put gravity-defying exhilaration into action, Disney has enlisted Black Rock Studios to develop "Pure" on next-gen consoles and PC. Unlike traditional ATV games where the emphasis is usually on simulation, Pure is an arcade racer with nothing but 'extreme' on its mind to let players exercise the dare-devil within.

There's a whole host of characters to choose from and then gamers can either match off against AI or go against up to 16 players online. Wes Miller, pro rider and the founder of H-Bomb Films, is also offering his advice throughout to Black Rock Studios helping them maintain an authentic quad culture, while still having room for 'crazy'.
