Blizzard announces details for BlizzCon 08

Blizzard Entertainment today announced its plans for the third BlizzCon gaming convention, to be held at Anaheim Convention Center in California on 10th and 11th of October, 2008. lizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises. In response to the demand to accommodate more attendees, this year’s event has expanded from two convention halls to three.

BioWare relent to fan outcries, no mandatory 10-day authentication

Mass Effect for PC would have carried with it a new SecuROM protection programmed to require the user re-authenticate every 10 days.

BioWare have said they won't make this demand anymore, now it requires only to be re-authenticated when applying for downloadable content, take that DRM!

New Gothic 4 screenshots

We've published 14 new screenshots for Gothic 4, which is in development by JoWood Productions and is currently set for release on the PC.

No release date has been confirmed for Gothic 4.

According to Lionhead community head honcho Sam, a refreshing update on their diabolical creation is due sometime next week.

A near toothless Sam proclaims, "I suggest you make sure you've got access to the internet, next week!"

Bethesda's Emil Pagliarulo responds to 'dumbing down' criticisms

With the company’s recent releases on console, Bethesda has come under criticism for losing depth in their RPGs.

Pagliarulo defends the game as the more hardcode of PC RPG gamers and long time fans of the Fallout franchise voice their concerns.

SCEE PlayStation Day: Line-up revealed

Sony has revealed a list of all the games that will be showcased at its PlayStation Gamers Day which is currently taking place in London.

Games such as Mirror's Edge, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 are on show, whilst the list also includes Motorstorm 2 which now appears to be called MotorStorm Pacific Rift.

PC version of Mass Effect requires Internet connection for copy protection procedure

The PC version of Mass Effect is going to require an Internet connection to play as the game comes with a copy protection/activation procedure that requires the Internet to go online and activate your copy.

Gamers will be able to play Mass Effect for 10 days, but the game won't start up after this period until the software is able to go online and register your copy.

Codemasters Online is confident enough to start in-house MMOs
