Indie developer Facepalm Games has announced that their claymation Metroidvania-style game The Swapper will be available on Steam on the 30th May.

Warner Bros. has released a 40 second snippet of a more full trailer due soon, which depicts a CGI clash between Batman and Deathstroke. It's for the prequel Batman: Arkham Origins, set years before Asylum.

It gives us a glimpse at the "young, raw, unrefined" Batman in his early vigilante career, as he faces this "defining moment" against Deathstroke. Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham.

Is another Fable on the horizon? Are we going to return to Albion, the land of golden breadcrumb following Heroes? It could be as job ads for Lionhead Studios seek developers experienced with Unreal Engine.

They specifically state these new employees would be an extra shoe in if they had knowledge of 'reimaging' established franchises. Reading between the lines it points heavily toward a new Fable.

SEGA trademark 'Sonic Lost World' in Europe

Sonic the Hedgehog is gearing up for a new adventure it seems as SEGA just yesterday has filed for the trademark of 'Sonic Lost World' in Europe. Details are non-existent for the game but we know its name at least.

Now let the speculation run wild. So 'Lost World' sounds dinosaury, right? Okay then Sonic gets 'lost' in a 'world' full of dinosaurs. Mystery solved. Next trademark please SEGA - that one was too easy.

Avalanche have "put on ice" a steampunk project, will make it "sooner or later"

Christofer Sundberg from Avalanche Studios, developer of Just Cause and Renegade Ops, has said his recent teasing images via Instagram were of a "steampunk-style game" they had in mind.

Of course in the next breathe he then proceeds to rip our steampunk loving hearts out by declaring it 'on ice', until further notice. Being an independent studio at least means they can revisit it.

Ubisoft has revealed the preorder bonuses that will be attached to Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Unfortunately, every retail chain and major site will have different bonuses, so gamers will have to be choosy about what appeals to them.

Putty Squad was a Super Nintendo game released by Ocean Interactive that has a bizarre development story in that both Amiga and MS-DOS versions were developed and finished - even getting high scores from Amiga magazines - but never released. This made Putty Squad the most desired Amiga game of all-time.

Warner Brothers has just announced Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is coming to PC! Yes gamers will soon get to enjoy the Scribblenauts take on over 2,000 DC Comics characters and items.

It's also coming to 3DS and Wii U, but whatever. Maxwell is on a quest to aid the DC Comics heroes and will get visit their lairs. You'll use the notebook to stop villainous schemes and save the world.

2D action-RPG Chasm graduates Kickstarter, pre-orders open to continue funding

Discord Games' 2D action RPG Chasm has battled its way to Kickstarter success over the weekend, getting almost $200k from just under 7k backers. Their stretch goals are still on the table thanks to pre-orders.

The action-RPG boasts procedurally created Metroid-like dungeons, presented in "authentic pixel art." A demo is available to try and there's a Steam Greenlight campaign.

Namco-Bandai has announced that a videogame adaptation of the animated series Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will be coming to PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this coming Winter 2013.

Kickstarter campaig begins for Shadow of the Eternals , wants $1.35 million

Precursor Games has decided to take their proposition of a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness onto Kickstarter. In order for Shadow of the Eternals to be successful they need $1,350,000 in pledges.

This move onto Kickstarter came following "overwhelming popular demand," despite Precursor running their own direct donations drive through PayPal. This one is also less 'controversial'.

For the nitpicking swarms out there, don't worry, because Ubisoft isn't going all Hollywood on us and just making a load of stuff and gadgets up when it comes to hacking in their open world of Watch Dogs.

They've turned to security specialists Kaspersky Lab to get feedback from "hardcore experts" on hacking. It's no code simulator, but Ubisoft don't want to just float of into 'yeah right' gimmicks.

Senior producer Jim Boone leads the video walkthrough of the Saints Row 4 PAX East footage that Volition and Deep Silver has put together for the world to see. We're taken on a tour of "urban chaos" through the streets.

In the new instalment, the leader of the Saints has been elected US President and they've got even more "mind-boggling weapons" like Dubstep guns. It releases in mid-August.

There are some things best kept secret, and this is perhaps one of them. According to an exchange between a former Avalanche Studios bigwig and their current CCO, the Just Cause dev almost had Star Wars.

In fact they "almost got that deal" sealed, according to former studio manager Oskar Burman. If it had of gone through, LucasArts "would be alive today," replied Christofer Sundberg.

The Kickstarter for Stillalive Studios' Son of Nor has been updated with a 4 minute developer walkthrough explaining the game's controls and mechanics, like how we manipulate the desert world around us.

Telekinesis lets us pick small and big objects, as well as levitate them to use as platforms. There are 22 days remaining on the Kickstarter, with just under $110k left.

Techland's new IP is Hellraid, co-op fantasy hack'n'slash for 90's fans

The first new IP from Techland since Dead Island is all about those feel good moments from the likes of Quake, Hexen, Diablo and Heretic back in the 1990s. The Polish studio is infusing co-op with fantasy.

They want Hellraid to feel like it was "made by guys in their '30s," touching on those simpler Quake and Hexen days. We choose between four classes and take on hordes of foes.
