Sacred 3 trailer examines 'Weapon Spirits', co-op action-RPG out August 5th

Deep Silver has announced Keen Games' Sacred 3 will be droping-in/out this August 5th as the co-op action-RPG launches, with pre-orders now available. A new trailer has also been released for 'Weapon Spirits'.

These are new to the Sacred universe and they enhance weapons with upgradeable and interchangeable augmentations, each with their own buffs and debuffs.

Fallout: New Vegas lead designer and project director Josh Sawyer wants the 'road of agony' to continue with the next Fallout from Bethesda, saying he'd like to avoid the "black-and-white choice."

The post-apocalypse feels "more appropriate" when decisions are agonising, like we just got knifed. Sawyer points to Mad Max; even though he wins he 'just keeps wandering'.

Indie studio Inglenook is six days into their Kickstarter for Witchmarsh, a side-scrolling action-RPG set in the pixel glory of 1920s America. We run a team of investigators tackling supernatural mysteries.

Chucklefish Games, creator of Starbound, will publish Witchmarsh which aims for a 2015 release on PC and Mac, but if the mega bucks roll in it could slip to 2016. It's asking for £50k.

CD Projekt RED "treating all gamers equally" with The Witcher 3, 'no exclusives'

Polish developer CD Projekt RED hopes to be on stage at E3 2014, but who's stage will they be standing on to showcase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Microsoft offered the spotlight to the RPG series at E3 2013.

Whoever they stand with, co-founder Marcin Iwinski assures fans they will "not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms," nor will they artificially delay releases.

Wasteland 2's opening cinematic to debut at MCM London Comic Con, May 24th

Brian Fargo and his studio inXile Entertainment will premiere the opening cinematic to turn-based RPG Wasteland 2 next week at MCM London Comic Con on Saturday, May 24th. It's also going to be live streamed.

For backers of the project you needn't clog the live stream as the opening sequence will be made available at the same time it airs at the event. Wasteland 2 is due in the second half of 2014.

CD Projekt RED "not newbies" and there will be "no more delays" to The Witcher 3

Are you bracing for another push back with The Witcher 3's release? CD Projekt RED would like to reassure us this isn't their first RPG rodeo, and that there will be "no more delays" to Geralt's return.

Co-founder Marcin Iwinski admits they "could have done a better job" with The Witcher 2 by spending more time on it, and so they weren't going to repeat that mistake.

Blizzard has released the latest patch for Diablo III and high on the list of tweaks to the action RPG is getting Tyrael to pipe down about his "poor eating habits", and the 300% Gold Find cap is removed.

There's a slew of additional nuts and bolts changes to the character classes, some UI changes and general bug fixes like teleporting messing with quest progression.

DoubleBear Productions' zombie survivalist RPG and strategy Dead State has just been updated on Steam Early Access. Character creation is now available, along with new locations and two random encounters.

Now the studio can focus "improving on and building out" current features instead of adding all-new ones, and this update represents "a small amount" of their overall work.

BioWare unveil Dragon Age: Inquisition Collector's Edition for $170

It was teased and now executive producer Mark Darrah has unveiled the promised "uber edition" for Dragon Age fans who like their physical merchandise when they pick up their games for stacks of cash.

The Dragon Age: Inquisition Collector's Edition contains a cloth map, an actual 'Inquisition Case' housing everything, 40-page journal, and loads of smaller physical goodies.

Final Fantasy III "coming soon" to Steam, "optimised for PC" with improved visuals

Square Enix has announced a PC version of JRPG Final Fantasy III is soon to arrive on Steam bringing with it "new and improved 3D visuals" and story sequences, with Trading Cards and Achievements.

The 1990 RPG was the first in the long-running series to sell over a million copies, and first reached Europe in 2007 as a 3D remake for Nintendo DS. Now it's heading for Steam.

Latest zombie action game Dying Light from developer Techland has been shuffling along with a wide-open 2014 release window, but now that's slammed shut as the studio reveal it will be coming February 2015.

They're now "so close to realising our initial vision" with unprecedented freedom of movement in Dying Light that they couldn't stop before achieving it. It's a real 'game changer'.

Action-RPG The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II was pushed back by developer Neocore Games who wanted more time to fine tune and polish, but they've at least posted a new trailer exploring the new features.

Beta access for Van Helsing II can be purchased through the official store, which includes a Steam key. Over 200 unique skills are available with a level cap of 60.

The medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance is still open for business when it comes to pledges late to the party, following its £1,106,371 Kickstarter success. Reward tiers are still available to late backers.

If you've already pledged then you can also upgrade to a higher tier. Their next stretch goal stands at $2m and they're just over $120k shy. They want to hire better actors for performance capture.

Piranha Bytes' Risen 3: Titan Lords is due this August and publisher Deep Silver has just posted a new CGI trailer for the RPG. Risen 3 returns to the medieval setting of the original instead of continuing with piracy.

The trailer is all pre-rendered and doesn't offer any gameplay. It shows a warrior fighting off a creatue of darkness, and a powerful skull-wearing mage of some sort.

Ship layouts and service branches detailed for sci-fi soap opera The Mandate

Perihelion Interactive has posted a new update for The Mandate detailing the layouts of ships, the six different service branches and briefly touched on the coat of arms. The studio reveal why they're important.

A ship's layout will of course matter when managing the crew, especially if you're repelling invaders. The service branches all provide distinct functions but also character progression.

A launch trailer accompanies the release of Ubisoft's Child of Light. It's the side-scrolling RPG with turn-based combat from mostly Far Cry 3 developers taking a break from blowing up jungle islands.

The Ubisoft Montreal title uses the UbiArt Framework engine which debuted with Rayman Origins, and was used again with Rayman Legends. The young girl Aurora must find her way home.

Wasteland 2 developer inXile Entertainment is singing Valve's praises for having all that power on PC but not being a jerk about it and making weird demands on studios. Brian Fargo call them "saviors" of PC gaming.

Before Steam came along we were "kind of in the dark ages," with only Flash letting developers try stuff out and directly engage gamers, but now it's opened up.

Obsidian "continue to call up" publishers for RPGs, "any opportunity" for Star Wars

A Skyrim-sized RPG from Obsidian Entertainment? Co-founder Feargus Urquhart would love that kind of project, and it's why publishers continue 'making sense' for those types of games as they cost tens of millions.

Barring Star Citizen, crowd-funding just can't funnel that kind of money into huge RPGs. Urquhart admits the studio keep badgering publishers for work on big names.

Overhype Studios, an indie out of Hamburg, Germany, has released a pre-alpha combat demo for their turn-based strategy RPG Battle Brothers. We lead a band of mercenaries and adventurers out for treasure and fame.

They describe their hand-drawn RPG as X-Com: UFO Defense or Jagged Alliance blending with a "medieval/fantasy setting." It features tactical combat and a strategic map.

Rumour: BioWare's next Mass Effect due 'next spring'

According to Shadow Broker sources from inside BioWare, the next Mass Effect in the works will be traversing the stars sometime next spring. They said to be sure and play the trilogy before then.

Little is known of the next Mass Effect except Shephard is now a 6km long Reaper with millions of husks at his command, sweeping the galaxy for stores to endorse.
