Sony: Home was probably announced too early

In an interview with Develop, Home game director Peter Edward talks about the reception amongst developers, and says that the service was probably announced too early.

"It's gone through waves. Initially, there was real excitement from people, because we were showing something really different and that had a lot of potential. And then there's the realisation that, well, we probably announced it too early" said Edward.

EA reveals support for PlayStation Home

Electronic Arts today announced its plans for the PlayStation Home Beta on the PlayStation 3, the 3D social gaming community that allows users to interact, communicate and share gaming experiences online. EA's support of the PlayStation Home Beta will begin with the EA SPORTS Complex, which is currently in development and is slated to launch this Spring.

"We're proud to support the PlayStation Home Beta with a very robust offering from EA SPORTS," said Peter Moore, president of EA SPORTS. "As part of our continued commitment to the connected experience and the digitization of our business, the EA SPORTS Complex is a rich new online environment that presents a compelling and immersive social gaming experience for the global sports audience."

PlayStation Network Release Schedule, information subject to change

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has issued a PlayStation Network release schedule to Videogaming247 which suggests that SOCOM Confrontation will be released as a downloadable title from the PSN on February 5th.

Killzone 2 confirmed for February 25th in Europe

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that Killzone 2 will be released in Europe on February 25th, two days before the game is released in the US.

Early this week we reported that a public demo would be launched on the European PlayStation Network, after it was revealed that US residents could download the demo early by pre-ordering the game.

In a daring move Sony have proclaimed you get "ten years of value" with a PlayStation 3 compared with the competition out there.

It continued as they dissed Xbox 360 for being a "burden on the wallet and adds clutter", where the Wii lacks "enhanced features" compromising it as true "entertainment solution."

Sony: New studios' "entrepreneurial spirit" helps drive innovation

Michael Denny, head of Sony's Worldwide Studios in Europe, has said the firm "passionately believe" in new studios to help try new things.

A "balanced approach" means Sony devs now have their own "internal concepting group" to play with new ideas, but still remain grounded with what they know works.
