Activision has announced plans to release new content for Call of Duty 4 in the form of downloadable multiplayer maps. These new maps will be available to both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions and will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales. | |

South Peak Interactive could be set to release a Wii version of Runaway: Dream of the Turtle after the DS version has been released. It's currently available to PC users but was announced for the DS last year. EB Games has a listing for the game under its Wii section with a release date of 1st April 2008. We don't know how they'll take advantage of the Wii remote or if this is actually true yet. | |

Microsoft announced this afternoon that Poker Smash, a puzzle poker game with a twist, will be released onto the Xbox Live Arcade along with an update for Crystal quest this Wednesday. In Poker Smash players must rush to clear rows of cards by arranging them into poker hands. To keep things interesting Poker Smash offers card-blasting bombs and a super slow-motion trigger for players caught in a bind. | |

American McGee's blog has revealed that the developer is working on a second project which will use the Unreal 3 engine. It'll be a full release with a big publisher and should appear on multiple platforms. McGee promises it will be a twisted tale. This unannounced game is currently in development by Spicy house which is currently located in China. We expect an official announcement once the publisher that is helping develop this title is ready. | |

Cypron Studios announced that they are currently developing a new Real-time strategy game for the DS called Command and Destroy. It's a classic RTS game which is influenced by Dune 2, Red Alert, KknD and Starcraft. | |

Empire have revealed that their latest FlatOut expedition, which was exclusive to Xbox360 and released last June, is now being retuned by Bugbear studios for release on PC. This port is said to have all the same trimmings and carnage as the original and will hopefully see retail shelves sometime this Summer. | |

Sony announced over the weekend that Japanese gamers will be able to purchase PlayStation 3 “Platinum” titles soon, with games such as Folklore, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Resistance Fall of Man being included in the launch list. Speaking to Gamesindustry.biz today, a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesperson said: “We have introduced a Platinum range of best-selling titles for all of our platforms to date, and it is likely that we will do so in the future for PS3. However, no decisions have yet been made on timing or line-up.” | |

According to a statement by Nintendo, many gamers have sent complaints to Nintendo about their Wii's being unable to read the discs for the newly released Smash Bros. Brawl, which isn't out in Europe or America yet. This is only currently effecting Smash Bros. Brawl because its the first game to feature a dual layer DVD, which Nintendo says is more sensitive to a dirty lens and puts dirt and dust to blame for these problems. | |

The long-awaited Max Payne moving based on the third-person shooter from RockStar games will start filming very soon. Mark Wahlberg will star as Max who wages a war against crime when his wife and child are killed by thugs and then becomes a troubled DEA cop who finds himself being haunted by the police, mob and a ruthless corporation after being framed. Filming is set to start on March 2nd in Toronto and is scheduled to finish on May 9th. The film is currently planned to be released in 2010. | |

Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens has told Next-Gen that he believes the current ten-year lifecycle promised by Sony will also be present for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Cousens believes that the Wii won't last ten years because of its technology and the fact that it is essentially a Gamecube 1.5. | |

The US magazine GamePro has unleashed the next cover art for its February edition, which reveals that Gears of War 2 will be featured in this issue of the magazine. The pictures shows two references to Gears of War 2, one on the top and then a picture on left side of the magazine which shows the old logo with a number 2 spliced onto it. If this is an announcement or further information confirming its development than you would have thought it would get the front page premier, but a Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 preview has claimed that fame. | |

Midway has confirmed today that Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3 will be released on 22nd February 2008. The PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 was released in November 2007 with the Xbox 360 version coming after the PlayStation 3 release. | |
