Sony Online Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast today announced that they are developing Magic: The Gathering – Tactics, an online 3D turn-based strategy game for the PC, with a PS3 version coming later. "The growing Magic: The Gathering community has an insatiable desire for great strategic game experiences. Sony Online Entertainment is the perfect partner to transform the best of Magic's story, strategy and competitive play into a fantastic ‘Tactics’ game experience for current and new Magic fans," said Greg Leeds, president, Wizards of the Coast. | |

EA has released a new trailer for the remake of American McGee's Alice, and it looks very creepy indeed. This one is for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but it won't be released until 2011. | |

According to reports from CVG, Kameo 2 was in development at Rare, but has since been canned due to the firms involvement with Project Natal. Early in the year Rare underwent a company restructure to work on games for Natal, which has forced them to put past projects aside. Kameo was a launch title for the Xbox 360 in 2005, but was met with disappointing sales – another factor for the cancellation. | |

An intended humorous trailer for Modern Warfare 2 has backfired a little for developer Infinity Ward, and so they've done their best to wipe it out. It's all about F.A.G.S. you see. That's the "Fight Against Grenade Spam." Bowling admits the end is "a bit too far" from the jokes origin and "appreciates" the raised issues. | |

The launch day numbers for Bayonetta show the PlayStation 3 version the victor with 93k copies sold, while the Xbox 360 counterpart managed to score 45k sales among gamers. Whether this continues with PS3 in the lead or not won't be known just yet until the first week's numbers get posted, which is this Thursday. | |

The Project Natal game still on everyone's mind is Lionhead Studios' Milo & Kate which we all were given a snapshot of at E3 this year. It's "hardly even been dreamt" by sci-fi writers. It brings the focus back to the player. A lot of the development is in "making people comfortable" being 'seen' by Milo. | |

Chet Faliszek of Valve has given the nod and said yes, that Avatar Awards are given when you accomplish things for 360 Left 4 Dead 2, although you "can't have weapons". Valve believed they were doing something others had already done, but realised that wasn't the case as "no one knew" what they were talking about. | |

Robert Bowling of developer Infinity Ward has twittered they'll be wiping those leaderboard and levels clean ready for the full launch, which is to ensure "no unfair advantages" gained. Developer Remedy has been putting Alan Wake together for what seems an eternity, and so they believe it would be for the best if all preview copies sent to the press have no ending. Griff Parry, Sky's director of On Demand, has left no room for being misunderstood that they do actually have a desire "to extend to any device" that's good quality to "project" content.
Currently the PS3 offers BBC iPlayer streams freely in the UK. Sky Player is currently available exclusively for Xbox Live, for those with Gold membership and a Sky subscription. | |

Publisher Namco has said they've shipped out 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6, in all its variations, to European retailers for today's launch of the game. EU fans "very important".
Tekken project director Katsuhiro Harada notes it's "a big day for us." More than half of Tekken fans "are from Europe" and their feedback has had "a crucial role" in shaping Tekken 6. | |

Sony has revealed their next-gen platform has achieved 3.2 million sales this period, compared with last year's 2.4 million units during the same time; some good news.
The former PS2 goliath and the PSP meanwhile has slumped some, when put next to '08 figures. Ultimately Sony has suffered a 24.2 percent sales drop this fiscal period ending Sept. '09. | |
