Earlier in the year EA Mythic announced the closure of over 60 servers so that player populations were higher on those left running.
Now the same is being done again, except it's just two this time. Warhammer Online "thrives on player interaction" said Andy Belford. | |

Ubisoft has announced Anno 1404 Venice, the add-on for Anno 1404, a real-time strategy and simulation game released earlier this year. Anno 1404 Venice will combine the signature gameplay mechanics of Anno 1404 and the richness of the Venetian culture. In addition, gamers will now be able to play Anno 1404 with their friends thanks to the new online multiplayer mode. | |

Activision has released patch 1.7 for Call of Duty: World at War. It includes a number of multiplayer fixes, but will only update installations already at 1.6. Download it here. Patch notes: * Fixed an MP server crash exploit. * Fixed a voice chat crash on systems with no default recording device selected. * Fixed an issue causing erroneous duplicate qport errors. * Server admins can disable team switching by setting g_allow_teamchange to 0. Players will be restricted to Auto-Assign in team-based gametypes. | |

Square Enix today announced that Just Cause 2 will be released on 23rd March, 2010 in North America and 26th March, 2010 in Europe, Middle East and Australasia. Namco Bandi Games has revealed additional details about the forthcoming free downloadable update that will enhance the online experience for players of Tekken 6 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The patch is expected to be released on 26th November. The update is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode download which is scheduled for release separately this winter. | |

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin's Creed II has sold over 1.6 million units in its first week worldwide. This represents 32% growth over the first week sales of Assassins Creed. That teasing surprise for Mass Effect 2 this week from BioWare's community man has been revealed, and it's a website "revamp" to go live soon.
Yeah it's a major let down, unless it sports some new stuff for us to pick over? Apparently it's "looking really cool" says a biased BioWare. | |

Apparently those guys over at LucasArts have noticed that "everyone wants" online co-op play for LEGO Indiana Jones 2. It's totally true.
A patch for the game is in the works and should be ready in "a few weeks" time, for Xbox 360 and PS3 LEGO gamers. No user-created sharing. | |

The news that Microsoft will permaban all third-party memory units from Xbox 360 consoles through an update hasn't gone down well, not at all.
Datel makes said third-party goods, and frankly is far better in capacity and pricing, and is now taking Microsoft to court for screwing consumers. | |

The last two character class reveals for Star Wars The Old Republic are the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor, which focus on ranged abilities.

Kai Huang is the Guitar Hero series founder, and he reveals that publishing giant Activision is seriously considering a paid-for online service.
Basically you'd cough up a monthly subscription for constant updates to Guitar Hero. There's "a lot of issues" around music licensing. | |

An internal clip of what appears to be Pandemic Studios' work on a Mercenaries MMO project has surfaced. It's called 'Mercs, Inc'.
Visual effects artist Dorian Compo says it's a "multiplayer sandbox game," who was let go. Sources say it's in pre-production at EA LA. | |

J Allen Brack of Blizzard admits they discuss Warcraft 4 regularly, but right now they're finishing up StarCraft 2 and its two expansions.
That means the team is "booked for the next few years." Blizzard is "all excited" about Warcraft 4, "in concept" at least says Brack. | |
