Larian Studio's Kickstarter drive for completion funds for the studio's RPG Divinity: Original Sin hit its first stretch goal after making its original $400K goal. The $500K goal added a homestead that players' characters could live in, improving it from a hut to a lavish home.

BioWare polling gamers about Firebase maps for Mass Effect 3 DLC

It seems that BioWare is looking to either improve the Firebase multiplayer maps from Mass Effect 3 or is working on multiplayer for the next Mass Effect title, as the developer has been polling gamers on them. The survey asks gamers about the layout, visuals, difficulty, and overall experience of each of the maps from the DLC.

Project Eternity gets first in-game video, Obsidian showcases "dynamic elements"

Developer Obsidian has put together a 'big update' for backers of Project Eternity as they post footage of some in-game 2D loveliness for the first time. It's got water, trees, day/night, lighting - "all that jazz."

The team wanted to strike that "high standard of visual quality" the likes of Icewind Dale defined. As times have changed they can also sprinkle in dynamic water and rustling foliage.

Jade Empire as an Xbox 360 launch title "would have been massive"

Dr. Greg Zeschuk muses that if their original Xbox RPG Jade Empire had of been held back as a launch title for the Xbox 360, its impact would have been vastly greater. Instead it released when the cycle was winding down.

The BioWare co-founder says it "would've been great to put off a bit" and polish it some more. The studio also missed a trick when Mass Effect missed its launch title window.

Obsidian "sad to see" LucasArts shut down game development

CEO Feargus Urquhart of Obsidian Entertainment has said he's "sad to see" what has become of LucasArts now that Disney has turned them from an internal studio to a licensing model instead.

However Disney is looking to leverage the Star Wars license among third-parties and Obsidian has already expressed how keen they are to get back into the IP, if given the chance.

RPG Shroud of the Avatar Kickstarter successfully funded $1,919,275

Richard 'Lord British' Garriott's Shroud of the Avatar RPG on Kickstarter has managed to secure funding. In fact it has tallied over $1.9 million via Kickstarter, and $138,328 through the game's official website.

Shroud of the Avatar is a singleplayer RPG and a persistent online world. It can be played offline, as well as operate in three modes online. It's due for release on PC by October 2014.

CD Projekt RED: "Just no way" The Witcher 3 would run on current-gen

Sorry Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers but The Witcher 3 is exclusively next-gen hardware, and PC of course because that's "non-stop next-gen," remarked CD Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwinski.

Splitting it across the generations would lead to compromises that the studio won't make. It would take a "couple of years" to bring The Witcher 3 to Xbox 360 and PS3 - not worth it.

Torment: Tides of Numenera with over 30 hours left, could break Kickstarter record

Over $3.6 million has been pledged to inXile Entertainment's RPG Torment: Tides of Numenera with over 33 hours to go as of press time. It's within reach of setting a brand new record on Kickstarter.

Backers have secured the stretch goal of Chris Avellone joining the design team as they passed $3.5m, and even unlocked the Hall of Lingering Reflections at $3.6m. How high can it go?

CD Projekt RED game designer Maciej Szczesnik has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the developer's ambitious open-world RPG will be completely DRM-free, just like The Witcher 2.

Blizzard has posted some musings on their upcoming 1.0.8 update for Diablo 3. The team "really wanted to improve multiplayer co-op." Right now it can feel "easier and more efficient" to go it alone in Sanctuary.

There are as many downsides to co-op as there are advantages, and Blizzard want to address this. 1.0.8 will tackle new social features, direct group buffs and matchmaking tags.

The Torment: Tides of Numenera team over at inXile Entertainment have shown a teasing glimpse of the game running in the Unity engine, which was the result of a 'brief technology test' they ran.

There are still three days left on the Kickstarter campaign and they've raised over $3.3 million so far. Backers have been breezing past stretch goals so how much can the community unlock?

Action-RPG Torchlight 2 is now mod friendly as the latest update includes full Steam Workshop support, with developer Runic releasing their Guts editor which lets players "modify almost everything" in the game.

That includes fiddling with item and skill balances, level designs, animations, quests, "and much more," teased Runic. There's a conversion tool for old mods in this new era for Torchlight 2.

Grinding Gears, developer of the free-to-play action-RPG Path of Exile, recently announced that the game had reached 2 million registered users. Co-founder Chris Wilson has now revealed at GDC 2013 that the game will be getting major yearly expansions once a year for the next few years.

Square Enix has confirmed rumors that it will be releasing an HD remake of both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for PlayStation 3. The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be hitting stores on the 31st December 2013.

CD Projekt RED reveals three playable epilogues for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

There are a lot of choices in The Witcher 3, and it has meant developer CD Projekt RED ended up creating three playable epilogues to "sum all of those elements" together and explore the consequences of our decisions.

In total there are a staggering "36 different endings," said CD Projekt's Adam Badowski, which was then corrected to mean "thirty-six world states." Every decision is tracked, minor to major.

Borderlands 2 receiving "inventory/backup/storage increases" in next update

The next update to Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 will be giving more room for us to cart round our loot, as well as more storage space and even higher ammo limits with "eridium maximums increased."

A full changelog is expected to be published "sometime this week" for everyone to stare at. The new Vault Hunter Krieg drops in May with the fourth and final story DLC in June.
