Once again Ubisoft creative director Jonathan Morin has touched on why they delayed Watch Dogs, which is poised to release next week after being pushed back 5 months. Exactly what did they do with the time?

Morin gives the targeting system as an example of needing extra focus, as sometimes "emergent situations" would arise with multiple hack options - it wasn't working well.

WB Games has released the very first gameplay trailer for Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight and it's full of teasing shots with brief glimpses of the Batmobile in action, as Scarecrow takes over Gotham.

We also get to see Batman's new armoured suit put through its paces. This is Rocksteady's return to the Batman they created, and is the "explosive finale" to the Arkham series.

Press Play's Max: The Curse of Brotherhood launching on PC today

Danish developer Press Play is releasing their cinematic puzzle-platform game Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for PC today, as well as on Xbox 360. We play as Max who needs to rescue his little brother.

The studio brought over the "quality and atmosphere" of the Xbox One version to PC and Xbox 360, says Press Play's Mikkel Thorsted. It's on sale for $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99.

WB Games has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, with the focus on upgrading Talion's abilities as we execute our "personal plan of vengeance" against Sauron.

Runes add powerful buffs to weapons and are lootable from the corpses of enemy captains, and can be combined. Epic runs can make Talion's weapons legendary and feared.

Ubisoft Montreal is leading the development of Assassin's Creed Unity, which is set in revolutionary France, but they're joined by another nine studios forming a mighty band of developers across the globe.

Toronto, Singapore, Quebec, Annecy, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kiev, Montpellier, and Bucharest are all getting their hidden blades wet, which comes to PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Rockstar developing new title due in early 2015, teases Take-Two

A new next-gen title is in the works and will be released before the current fiscal year ends for Take-Two, with the publisher noting Rockstar Games will account for 45% of their revenue in FY2015.

There's no mention of what it could be except that Xbox One and PS4 releases are likely, with PC hopefully included. It's possibly the long-awaited Agent, once a PS3 exclusive.

According to Microsoft's Windows Compatibility Center, Rockstar's cowboy romp Red Dead Redemption is 'compatible' with Windows 7 and 8. Of course that's actually decided by user votes, says the FAQ.

Odd how users would be voting on compatibility when unreleased, but odder still is the fact Microsoft has it listed at all. Take-Two want Red Dead a major franchise.

Ubisoft's PlayStation exclusive missions for Watch Dogs are confirmed for PC as well, with the official PlayStation website announcing it's "timed exclusive" content. A white suit and hacking boost part of the DLC.

Four missions make up the bonus pack for PlayStation. An additional hour of gameplay is tied up in the missions, says Ubisoft. The open world of Watch Dogs is due the end of May.

Alien: Isolation dev diary looks at narrative and lead characters

Creative Assembly has just released a fresh developer diary for Alien: Isolation that goes behind-the-scenes for the horror game's narrative, and takes a look at their lead characters such as Amanda.

New in-game footage and some cut scenes are revealed and are sourced from pre-alpha footage. They also reveal the real-life casting and motion capture of the actors.

The hack sandbox Watch Dogs is due out the end of the month, unless Ubisoft springs another surprise delay on us. Today though they're teasing us with some of the characters we'll be chummy with, and shooting at.

One of our hacking buddies, T-Bone Grady, will be playable through a separate single player campaign available with the Season Pass. Watch Dogs releases on PC and console May 27th.

Detective Ronan O'Connor must attempt to solve his own brutal murder in Airtight Games' Murdered: Soul Suspect, where we play as a spirit trapped in the town of Salem that's being plagued by killings.

The purgatorial world of Dusk is where we try to uncover what happened and unmask our killer. The supernatural detective game releases in June on PC and console.

Ubisoft has announced a Season Pass for Watch Dogs. You're shocked I can tell. Well prepare your jaw for another plunge to the ground because there's a new playable character part of the deal.

T-Bone stars in his own single player campaign, and there'll be additional missions, skins, weapons and a "new mind bending" game mode. Season Pass grants a week exclusivity.

Ubisoft and Nvidia have spent quite some time together on Watch Dogs as they optimise it for PC, and have already showed off a tech demo for Watch Dogs using Nvidia's GPU series in achieving fidelity.

Now they take it a step further with Nvidia offering a free digital copy of Watch Dogs for buyers of a select range of GeForce cards such as the 600, 700 and TITAN series.

Just Cause developer Avanlanche Studios has now drifted into 2015 with their big ambitious Mad Max game, as Warner Bros. release a new teasing trailer which focuses on the cars of the post-apocalypse.

In Mad Max "cars are the key to survival" in the open world sandbox (literally), where we'll be fighting off bandits with the help of the "gifted, but peculiar" mechanic Chumbucket.

A new PC patch for State of Decay has been released by developer Undead Labs with some fundamental tweaks made to the game, such as outpost resource management and vehicle physics.

Zombies also "prefer tasty NPCs" like those cowering, and prefer loud obnoxious distractions like fireworks over echoes or disturbances. Framerate has been 'smoothed'.

Ubisoft has released a brand new trailer for Watch Dogs topping 9 minutes as they explain the multiplayer features for the open world game, from the seamless drop-in/out hack-stalking to 8 vs. 8 deathmatch.

They also touch on the companion app (see what I did there?) and how it effects the game world. Single and multiplayer occupy the same world in Watch Dogs, which can be turned off.

Engineer Drew James from Ubisoft Reflections posted a picture with Prince of Persia's various incarnations through the gaming ages, with the fifth slot reserved with a teasing question mark.

He asked what was next for the series, but his twitter feed has since disappeared. Other twitter accounts were copied in, including Jade Raymond. Ubisoft is leaking serious sand.

According to an insider at Ubisoft, the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity will be introducing a series first with a four-player co-operative mode with its own narrative. Apparently it will be shown at E3 alongside single player.

Two demos will be at this year's E3 from Ubisoft, but they might not be shown together during the press conference. One could be reserved for another venue, such as Sony's platform.

Today things get a little chilly with Mr. Freeze gatecrashing a party at the Wayne Manor. The Cold, Cold Heart DLC adds a new single player adventure to Batman: Arkham Origins as part of the season pass.

It releases on PC, Xbox 360 and on PS3 in the US today, and in Europe for PS3 tomorrow. Batman's XE suit is introduced with the new add-on, along with hours of new gameplay.

Ubisoft is stoked with the high numbers of pre-orders for Watch Dogs, their brand new IP that nearly stole the show for Ubisoft's E3 2012 presentation with its flirtation with cyberpunk themes in near-future Chicago.

Ubisoft's Wayne Greenwell says they expect Watch Dogs to be as big as FIFA or Call of Duty, with the open world action game believed to be one of 2014's best sellers.
