The first major content update in Take On Mars' new chapter has released with Expedition One marking the game's first manned mission to the Red Planet, following our time remotely controlling a probe.

A new 8x8 kilometre of Martian terrain opens up for these first marsonauts to explore with a science buggy providing them essential tools. Can Mars be colonised? Bohemia issues the challenge.

While Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is now out on iPhone and iPad, boiling the blood of veteran RCT fans. Atari announce the "completely different" PC version is due this holiday. It's a "multiplayer" version, apparently.

Atari say it'll have "even more social features" with co-operative gameplay. It's unclear if they mean 'more social' than the mobile version, or previous PC releases.

Star Citizen's dogfighting module at PAX East, Chris Roberts pilots Hornet

Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games are at PAX East and the long awaited dogfighting module for Star Citizen has been showcased live to attendees with footage now emerging. Chris Roberts is piloting a Hornet.

Comically things go a little wrong in the beginning as he crashes into part of a station and his ship disintegrates. There's almost 15 minutes worth of in-game footage so far.

Citybound receives 'Road to Alpha' video, showcases early dynamic buildings

Anselm Eickhoff is currently developing Citybound, an ambitious city builder, and he's released a new video with commentary on how far he's got. This marks his fifth weekly update on the "road to alpha" with big progress already.

He has connected his procedural building system to zoning, and a geometry system is now in to allow for more variety with building plots. It's rather impressive.

Arma 3's Zeus DLC now available, adds 'Game Master' role for multiplayer

Bohemia are handing Arma 3 players the powers of a Game Master in the now released Zeus DLC, letting someone take charge of multiplayer sessions to "create, manipulate or expand" scenarios in real-time.

We can now "curate the experience" of other Arma 3 players on-the-fly with an "intuitive real-time editor," letting us tweak events or create all-new ones. The Zeus DLC is free.

The Free servers for Bohemia Interactive's Arma 2 are closing later this month after nearly 3 years since their announcement. They want to thank everyone who took part by offering a discount for Arma 2's franchise.

From now until early next month, Arma 2's complete collection is 75% off through the official Bohemia Interactive Store. All the Arma 2 titles are activated through Steam.

It's officially mainstream as Mojang's Minecraft has been couch-gagged by The Simpsons. While not directly Minecraft in appearance, there's no mistaking their wink to Markus Persson's sandbox phenomenon.

In fact the Minecraft creator says he's "not sure how I feel about it," and can't help still feel it's "just this small game I made at home." A small game that happens to rule the world.

Peter Molyneux and fellow designer Jack Attridge have released a new Godus video update in the wake of their Reddit AMA, as they felt there were "many questions that they didn't get to answer." Watch them squirm.

Little Green Men Games have just released another beta update for Starpoint Gemini 2 addressing "several bugs" but also tinker with the newly added wormholes. Their visuals and physics needed overhauling.

Sorry, but there'll be no more docking on hostile stations and planets - they hate you, after all. A Smuggle Freelance mission is added, and heavy weapons can now force power drops.

Hinterlands update on The Long Dark, release first in-game screenshots

First-person post-disaster survival sim The Long Dark has just received an update from Canadian developer Hinterland, letting us know they're still alive and are now coming out of hibernation with new regular updates.

They've been "heads down, hard at work" over the past six months, and have made "some incredible progress" on The Long Dark. Two new in-game screens have been released.

Peter Molyneux acknowledges the very early release of Godus was "fundamentally going to be on the boring side," because it was only 25% done. It was like "giving you Call of Duty without guns," he said.

Those arduous times were necessary though, argues Molyneux, to help "make the game not boring." It's all a part of the "democratic world of development that we're in now."

Episode 62 of the subscriber-funded Wingman's Hangar weekly series included a new 'Inside Cloud Imperium Games' segment, which focused on the Asteroid Hangar and the dynamic Room System.

The Asteroid Hangar is designed for those in Star Citizen who prefer to live outside the jurisdiction of the law, while the Room System will feature in all ground-based experiences.

The good news is that Maxis is developing a PC exclusive, and it's a 'big project', but what does this mean for SimCity? Are they committing to a sequel or another IP?

The latest alpha build for Prison Architect focuses on finances which has been the "biggest broken area of the game," admits the Introversion team. No more waiting until midnight and then blowing all our cash by 3 am.

A new 'export' room now handles all our tradeable goods for sale, which sells them straight away, and they tease it's "rife for future escape attempts." Prisons can now enjoy 'continuous income'.

Kalypso Media have released a second cinematic teaser for Tropico 5 where they explain how El Presidente came to end up ruling a Caribbean island. It's a rather tongue-in-cheek 'origin story' for the dictator.

Tropico 5 is due this summer for PC and console with a closed beta still running and signs up open. Unlike in previous games, we start in the colonial era but end up in modern times.

Space Engineers reaches Survival mode and multiplayer milestones

The space faring tinkerers known as Space Engineers have just reached "two key-milestones" in the game's development, announces developer Keen Software House. The free ride is at an end with Survival mode.

It's time to fire up those ore smelters and stamp some bars as resource management is introduced, and player deaths mean a trip to the medical room or nearest Rescue Ship.

A quick 1 minute 16 second video has been released by Maxis that explains the simplicity of swithcing between the traditional online multiplayer of SimCity, to the new offline Single-Player Mode hotness.

A SimCity producer details the advantages of single-player, like multiple saves. Switching between the two modes just takes a button press. "It's that simple," they declare.

2013 saw Minecraft's Mojang take in £197 million, "no pressure whatsoever to rush"

Unlike most companies, Mojang isn't experiencing a decline with Minecraft after all this time which has meant the 36 employee strong studio can take it slow. 2 billion Swedish kronor was revenue in 2013.

That's about £197 million with £77.3m in profit for Mojang, and £77.8m going to a separate company owned by Marcus Persson in licensing fees. That's a lot of gold bars.

SimCity now offline, Update 10 "deployment has started"

Maxis has switched off SimCity servers and for some it will be one of the last inconveniences of doing so as Update 10 is now rolling out. A Single-Player Mode is introduced that ends the tyranny of server hiccups.

Cities can now save locally, auto-saving can be disabled and Save As is introduced, which should pleasing experimenting Mayors. Maxis have refreshed their Update 10 FAQ.
