Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed: Unity with pre-Alpha trailer, due "Holiday 2014"

In the wake of the leaks for Ubisoft's new major Assassin's Creed, the publisher has decided to officially confirm its existence and has released a 'sneek peek' with pre-Alpha footage of Assassin's Creed: Unity.

It confirms the setting is France during the French Revolution but offers no more specifics than that, such as whose assassin's boots we'll fill. It does give a "Holiday 2014" window.

Ubisoft's Trials Fusion from their RedLynx studio will be entering closed beta tomorrow on PC and it will begin with 14 tracks and 2 skill games but receive new content each week until April 24th.

That's the new PC release date, while Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4 now launch earlier April 16th. That riot-worthy injustice aside, some do at least get to sample it early.

The remake of the original Abe's Oddysee called Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty has just received a new gameplay trailer, having escaped the clutches of GDC 2014. It shows off the new HD splendour from Just add Water.

You'll bear witness to the new dynamic visual effects, tightened gameplay and "explosive new sound design" in this ground-up remake. JAW are confident it will sell at least 250k copies.

Images have leaked online and it reveals a future Assassin's Creed set in the French capital, with notable Parisian landmarks adorning the city sprawl. It's either called or codenamed 'Unity'.

Interestingly this isn't said to be the only new major Assassin's Creed due later this year, as another called or codenamed 'Comet' is also scheduled. Every fall a new entry has released.

First Sacred 3 gameplay trailer introduces character classes, co-op combat

Deep Silver has just released the first gameplay footage for the fast-paced hack 'n' slash sequel, Sacred 3, which features drop-in/out multiplayer for up to 4 players online, and 2 players locally.

This gameplay footage shows a selection of "unique character classes" in action, taking on waves of enemies. Sacred 3 is due in late August for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Half a million New 'n' Tasty sales needed for new Oddworld, says creator

Lorne Lanning, creator of Oddworld, says that if New 'n' Tasty manages 250k unit sales then he'll be able to fund a remake of Abe's Exoddus, but if another 250k sales were piled on top then we can have something new.

A new Oddworld game won't be made by Lanning for $2 million, but he "might do it for five or six." A Kickstarter wouldn't generate the cash he needs for a full new adventure.

Watch Dogs 'averages' 35 to 40 hours, reclassified R18+ in Australia

Jonathan Morin of Ubisoft has said the "average player which does free roam a bit" will likely find themselves investing 35 to 40 hours before reaching the end, but those "doing everything" will be closer to 100 hours.

New content has also been added following its delay from last year, which has led to Australia reclassifying it from MA15+ to R18+. Watch Dogs deals with human trafficking.

Creative Assembly have released another developer diary and this time the studio focuses on the creation of their own Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation, which features just one terrifying alien hunting us.

Studio leads and key devs explain the creation behind the hunter in this survival horror embracing "an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger." 'Never feel safe.'

Mirror's Edge 2 details allegedly surface from 'verified sources'

DICE has Mirror's Edge 2 in the works but details haven't been forthcoming when it comes to specifics. Rocket Chainsaw claim to have the scoop from 'verified sources' that have dirt on the game.

According to their report its primary focus is parkour, with any combat advanced over the original but not emphasised. It is entirely open world with drop in/out multiplayer, they say.

A casting call posted with the Actors Access network has been spotted, and its owner is looking for three actors with Italian and/or southern accents. The characters are all described as robot Mafiosos.

Franklin, Tony and Mickey are all focused on their criminal enterprises. Not much has been heard about Mafia 3 and this casting call is for an 'untitled game' in the works.

As sure as Polly wants a cracker, Ubisoft has announced a Game of the Year edition for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. It's called the Jackdaw Edition and includes the full game and Season Pass.

This GOTY release is only billed for PC, Xbox One and PS4 with Amazon the only source for it in the UK. Included as part of the booty is Freedom Cry, the story DLC starring Adewale.

The Ubisoft teams behind Watch Dogs have anticipated 'griefers' when it comes to multiplayer in Watch Dogs, and lead game designer Danny Belanger would like to say it's "a choice" whether we let them in or not.

Other players joining can't immediately just attack you so "you can't be spammed", but acting aggressively in other people's games changes that. It's entirely our choice.

Ubisoft Benelux PR and events manager Tessa Vilyn has hit back at accusations Watch Dogs has been visually 'scaled back' since its E3 footage. She regards that as "impossible," asserting no such thing.

She calls it a "true next gen game for sure". Remarks about a 'downgrade' came from a GIF that starting circulating, reportedly showing its visual flair isn't what it once was.

Rumours prove true as Konami announces DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 that lets fans play as Alucard, the turned son of Gabriel, in a branching adventure taking place before the events of the main game.

We'll set in motion the events in Lords of Shadow 2, learning all about vampiric secrets with his own unique abilities. Revelations will be released by the end of the month for all platforms.

Hacktivist wet-dream Watch Dogs from Ubisoft will support up to eight players in free roam, says creative director Jonathan Morin via his Twitter account. Recently it was announced the game launches May 27th.

The release date leaked ahead of an official reveal and then so did a new story trailer. The free roam can happen at any given time. Ubisoft will be hosting a live stream Q&A tomorrow.

According to a leaked E3 fact sheet for Arkane Studios' rumoured Dishonored 2 we'll be experiencing the sequel powered by the id Tech 5 game engine, and in an all-new area called Tyvia with new powers.

We'll also fill the assassin boots of a new main character, and work to "annihilate the Outsider" apparently. It will also support "versus-mulitplayer" and is expected out in 2016.

Rocksteady truly want to go out with a bang and Batman: Arkham Knight will be doing just that courtesy of ditching Xbox 360 and PS3, and letting the Dark Knight soar in a city 'five times' larger than before.

Loading screens have been kicked to the curb, and we'll face against "three or four times as many" thugs on the streets. WB Games has released a lengthy announcement trailer.

Square Enix confirms that 27 places at Eidos Montreal have been made redundant post launch of Thief, which is what "every major studio has to do sometimes" to retool for future projects. Try to re-house within studio.

They've been in touch with "several studios in Montreal" to host a career day for those laid off. Eidos Montreal continues to work on the transmedia project Deus Ex: Universe.

Square Enix has just announced that Murdered: Soul Suspect will be out spooking its way into retailers in early June. No pre-order goods have been revealed yet for Europe but "more on that soon!"

It will release first in North America June 3rd, and then a little later for Europe and PAL territories June 6th. Murdered: Soul Suspect is for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4.

UPDATE: Next Game Informer issue features Batman: Arkham Knight. Prepares 4 minute debut trailer for 10.00 AM Central Time. Set in new area of Gotham City 'far larger' than Arkham.

The Batmobile is a 'core element' of Arkham Knight with streets made much wider to accommodate the iconic vehicle that until now had only been briefly used as a set piece in the Arkham series.

Ahead of an official reveal by WB Games, retailer GAME has started taking pre-orders for Rocksteady's new game 'Batman: Arkham Knight'. It's billed as the "explosive finale" in the Arkham series.

According to the listing, we'll be facing off against Batman's "most notorious foes" as Scarecrow unites them. What's more interesting is the inclusion of the driveable Batmobile.
